  • Good luck to Oxford this evening. I hope they win and Karl Robinson gets praise for it.

Oxford did well tonight against a decent Citeh line up. Fosu looked his usual mixture of potential quality but poor decision making. It was commented on several times that he chose the wrong option. I thought he lacked the pace that he had with us but it may just be that he was playing against lightning quick opposition. I had a silly (extremely modest thankfully) bet on City to win 4-1 with Sterling scoring a hat trick. I was getting excited at 3-1 with Sterling on two when he was bloody subbed and I didn’t get to the cash out button quick enough!!!!!

One of the best man-managers in the EFL, that's for sure - players seem to love him. Yeah he's tactically stubborn/limited but there's definitely a place for managers like him.
Yep definitely. Our players certainly loved him, you could tell by the passion they showed during those action-packed defeats at home to Bury and Gillingham and Wimbledon and Shrewsbury and Peterborough, etc. And when he left, so many players came out to say how gutted they were that he'd gone, and how frustrating they found it when Bowyer came in and played different formations and made them win games and play entertaining football.

And when he first came to Charlton, the passionate support he gave to Katrien and Roland to carry on with their destruction of our club - what a man. Great guy, thanks for everything Karl.
    I've a sneaking suspicion you're being sarcastic.
  • The football under KR was so bad that it almost became unwatchable.

    One match touchline ban

On a happier note for him, Oxford won at Wimbledon over the Christmas period, and while Robinson got his usual lively reception, it wasn't completely OTT like when he was our manager

Perhaps 'Tarbuck' will get Oxford back to the 2nd division.

  • One of the most random rumours around.
Might not even be a rumour - Pete O'Rourke is usually on the money when he tweets
  • The biggest problem is that because he likes to talk so much it’s going to take him 5 years to learn all the words he needs.
Either that or he'll go through endless translators who quit because they cant get a word in edge ways to actually put in Spanish what he's saying
  • Soon to be leaving Oxford for climes as sunny as Malaga? Well Blackpool anyway as they have made an approach.

Probably wouldn't be there long enough to learn all the Spanish he'd need.

The translators can speak English, remember. But they'd still need a specialist translator capable of converting Scouse to English.

We call him "Gobby". How long before the Malaga fans had their own nickname for him?
I reckon they'd call him "Meester Habla Mucho".
  • To be fair to him he’s doing pretty well at Oxford.

Oxford rejected the approach. Hard to see why he's want to go to Blackpool anyway, hardly a major step up

Sea & sand. Not a lot of either in Oxford. Also as a Liverpudlian it would be closer to home......he could live in the nicer area like Southport too.

Ah, it was the Malaga in Lancashire that wanted him, not the Malaga in Spain.

  • Be interesting to see how the Blackpool story progresses

Wasnt his excuse for leaving Charlton because he wanted to be closer to his family etc.?
  • Robinson said last night that he knew nothing about the approach and said he was "flattered" by the news. Didn't even come out with the usual cliche that "I'm here to do a job here" etc etc so one would assume that, providing the price is right, he'll be off. Losing Fosu-Henry and Baptiste in the January window probably wouldn't have helped the situation.

He's not lived up there for a long time though, when he left us to take the Oxford job, its proximity to his previous Milton Keynes base did seem to be an attraction

The sale of 2 key players late on in the window would have been a sign of where Oxford are though as a club

Their form seems to have faltered since they sold the pair.

Not so surprising if they've sold their best 2 players in the last window.

I've no idea who they replaced them with - but it can take a while for replacement players to settle.

At first but they've won their last 3 without conceding a goal and scored 9.

They signed nobody on deadline day, though had strengthened earlier in the window. I can't imagine KR had been planning on losing those 2 players on deadline day though
