Stephy Mavididi has returned to Arsenal after it was confirmed that the injury he sustained during Saturday's defeat to Bury will keep him out for the rest of the season.
The 18-year-old forward impressed for the Addicks during his short time on loan from the Gunners, but a scan has revealed a torn hamstring that will see him sidelined for at least three months.
"He saw a specialist last night and he's set for an operation at the start of next week, but it will keep him out for between 14-16 weeks," explained Valley boss Karl Robinson.
"He's been in tears which is sickening because he's been tremendous for us and we wish him all the best.
"He'a been a credit to his family and to Arsenal FC and we'd love to have him back next year."
Meanwhile, a grade-two hamstring injury could keep Jake Forster-Caskey sidelined for as many as four weeks, while Harry Lennon has stepped up his rehabilitation from a groin injury and could return to training within the next four weeks.
Elsewhere, Adam Chicksen is set to return to training on Thursday after recovering from a ligament strain, but Roger Johnson has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign after picking up an injury in training last month.

Ha, okay then.
Edit; I've listened again to KRs I/V and it was his Scouse twang which I heard as Jase whereas he said Jake . So no update on Pearce.
We:
- Are paying for Johnson to see out his contract
- Are paying £12k a week for a complete fairy who doesn't want to be here.
- Are paying a subsidy for Naby Sarr's wages, on top of his hefty transfer fee.
- Gave Morro away for free to get him off the wage bill.
It's enough to make you cry, it really is.
Think we can assume RoJo is
down the pubon gardening leave. At least Chicksen has been injured, which gives some justification as to why he has inexplicably been missing from the team in recent weeks.
Hope they give JFC the necessary time to properly rehabilitate and don't rush him back. Options in centre midfield look a bit limited again now though.
“Tariqe Fosu will be back for Saturday, we hope. It was just a fatigue injury.”
Striker Stephy Mavididi was expected to be out for eight weeks - but could be back in four from now.
That's the news that boss Karl Robinson revealed today as Arsenal loanee Mavididi made the trip to sit behind the dugout to support the Addicks.
And good news too for fans is that Tariqe Fosu is expected back next week after suffering with nothing more than "fatigue" according to the boss.
"Stephy Mavididi was here watching," revealed Robinson.
"He was sat just behind us I see his little smug face.
"That just shows you a loan player who comes away from home to support the team.
"He said 'gaffer I've got a bit of good news, it's going really well'.
"So I had a little smile. If we can have Stephy Mavididi back in four or five weeks that's better than the eight that we thought.
The other big hope is that no new injuries were sustained on Saturday. I'd think that if anything serious happened it would be mentioned. But given the swing in results needed for us to finish outside the playoff places I wouldn't be surprised if one or two are rested just as a precaution.
It's almost of 'PWR' proportions!
If gobinson was in charge he would use every excuse in the book.
Thankfully he ain't in charge.
Bowyer will just get on with it and we will be fine.
In Bowyer we trust.
