Rumour yesterday was started by a tweet saying it was said at a staff briefing. @Henry Irving later said there was no staff briefing. However, I’m sure the stewards have a briefing meeting before every game so it could well have eminated from that

No one is briefing the stewards about a takeover. Why would they?

I don’t know, and I don’t believe there to be any ‘fact’ in what is said. But I’m just stating that I’m sure stewards have a briefing meeting pre game, I’m sure the potential for protests and how to react were discussed, and it’s possible an incorrect or misunderstood comment emanated from that.

The way this ‘takeover’ has gone so far it wouldn’t surprise me if it was in their contracts that they have to be consulted and get the final say...

Roland is selling the club to the stewards ...... ?
Beat me to it Henry. The staff member I have knowledge off has no idea about anything takeover. The sort of person who would know if it was told to staff.
Where do they work? The original tweet referred to academy staff.

Totally agree - why would they
but as an aside, and in an early example of the now ubiquitous penny pinching and cost-saving exercises, the main reception phones were being manned by a single junior security steward when I phoned the club sometime last year.
Needless to say, he had no idea how to transfer my call. I know that these days we are meant to have transferable skills in our workplace - but really?
Not saying it's true, but 're. the stewards briefing - I don't think anyone is suggesting they need to be told, but the rumour could've been that something was said during the safety talk before the match along the lines of "You may or may not be aware, but it's comimg from the top that the takeover will be completed next week, so this weekend should be the last for any potential disturbances (protests) relating to the current owner".
Again, I'm not saying that happened, but I think that is in the context of the rumour started

There we go...it'll be all over twitter now that a CL mod has just confirmed the takeover.

SSN are outside Grove Park train station right now
This talk of a steward briefing is a bit strange as I’ve just got off the phone to the old man who was in the north lower yesterday.
He arrived at the ground early yesterday and was chatting to a steward, who told him they “were expecting a demonstration at 3pm” my old man Noted “there weren’t enough people for a demonstration”
The steward replied “if it carries on,(?) the club will be liquidated”
Now, I am fully aware of the all the discussions on here about the charges on assets and unlikelihood of liquidation.
However, it was a very unusual comment from Dad, even speaking to a steward. Then to log on here and see all this talk about stewards, I just thought I’d share what he was told.

Did this “steward” have duct tape on one of his shoes ?

As likely as those other theories such as Roland is purposefully destroying the club so he can sell The Valley for housing, or that there never was a takeover and it’s all a plan to stop protests.

Well, one of the people I spoke to yesterday was the guy who runs the stewarding company, so I guess he would have known about that. He’s got no more time for Duchatelet than I have.
Like I said, I'm not saying it happened, but that's in the context as I understood the rumour to've begun. I wouldn't have thought the Aussies and RD woulda said, "Right, that's a done deal, let's get our priorities right and tell the most important people in all this, the stewards."
.....and let's be honest, on the general scheme of things Charlton related, the stewards knowing the deals gone though before a lot of other people know, wouldn't be the most outlandish thing to happen
Groundhog Day...a takeover is imminent once we know what division we're in, it was due for most of November and December, then before the transfer window closed, no players were to be bought or sold until the announcement...some players were sold, then Murray confirmed Feb,March at the latest (looking like he might have bullshitted us, again). It was imminent after the play offs, and again at the end of may. A trusted source says it's a done deal and will be announced in the coming year when we know what league we're in.
The trusted source is not to be trusted and is on a wind up.
We shouldn't have trusted an owner with a syrup, yellow teeth and £7 Shoe Zone shoes tapped up. His family and close friends warned us he was a wanker who'd asset strip us and pocket the money.

Interesting last sentence ads.....but exactly when did his family and close friends inform us of him being a wanker and that he would asset strip us? Can’t say I remember that.

Minor detail mate he's definitely asset stripping us and a five knuckle shuffle merchant .

I can’t remember the family bit but I do remember Standard fans telling us what would happen. I thought it was sour grapes on their part but with the wonders of hindsight they were spot on and some.

Unless it's stewards in one of the lounges. They're usually quite well informed.
Has he ever brought in a proper CEO? If so, I must have missed their flying visit!
How much is a half decent CEO? Bearing in mind he was probably paying the incompetent Meire a fair whack, I would suggest he'll bumble along without one for as long as it takes...and that could be years!

If the takeover happens on Monday I’ll have the list of stewards tattooed on my arse.
