Please can we not - I hear this sort of stuff every week, and reading it "in jest" is properly tiresome - and worse coming from fellow Charlton fans
Trust you're gonna take a dig at all the other "jokes" and not just mine....I might get offended.....singling me out....I'm going to HR, the council and the police.
Fine, let's do this.
- Beardface, in responding to "what's the sample size", referring to Chinese owners of UK football clubs previously, saying "1.4bn".
VERDICT: factual (population reference), amusing to some, generally irreverent. Absolutely no stereotyping. I didn't find it funny, but nor did I find it offensive, so no lol.
- soapy_jones "I think it is time for Chinese jokes..."
VERDICT: No it isn't because we all know where this is going.
- soapboxsam with "I did hear a whisper..."
VERDICT: Chinese whispers is a game played mainly by children, referring to rumours and such. Quite appropriate for the takeover thread. Some might construe the base etymology - language/cultural barriers - as a little offensive, but not me. Clever. I didn't lol it though.
- CH4RLTON with "I know who the backer is - Win One Soon".
VERDICT: straight from the "ling long ching chong" school of "ooh their language is all funny noises". Offensive. Bugger that.
- ForeverAddickted with "or it could be Fookin Any Un".
VERDICT: see above. Offensive. Bugger that.
- Johnnysummers5 with "this could become the takeaway thread".
VERDICT: HAHAHAHA YEAH SO FUNNY WE ALL OWN TAKEAWAYS ISN'T THAT WHAT THE CHINESE ARE IN THIS COUNTRY FOR. That's basically what it fucking is. My brother, at a university open day, was one asked - with no hint of irony - "so what takeaway do your parents own"? Yeah it's never funny and always reductive.
- Dave2l saying something about Zheng Zhi.
VERDICT: no idea what he meant but it doesn't look offensive? Maybe it's a whoosh for me. Whatever.
- soapy_jones with "that's my Chinese man dentist joke back in the can".
VERDICT: Joking about the jokes at best; "Oh no, I can't be casually racist" at worst. I dunno. Either way, I've heard it all before. It's a shit joke and is invariably accompanied by a crude accent when told in person.
- captainbob with "1975, Chinese jokes are banned".
VERDICT: Yeah this is pretty funny. Combines Happy Valley and his fact of the year for each page; Chinese governmental oppression (which is something I stronglydislike and am uncomfortable with); and is a good observation on Henry's post. Fair play.
- Mal with "should take it all on the Chin".
VERDICT: offensively unfunny, but more of a terrible pun than anything racially stereotypical or anything.
- The Red Robin, responding to Seth's comment about takeaways with "you can dine in at some [Chinese restaurants] too".
VERDICT: Oh good, more mileage out of the Chinese and catering. NB I know TRR is generally a decent poster and all, and I'm not giving a "pass" or anything, but this was probably more failed and misguided etc
- Arry Addick (you) with "these all look the same to me".
VERDICT: All the Chinese look the same is such a well-known racial stereotype. Grow up.
Sorry for my remark causing you offence Paddy and Seth
I thought paddy was called paddy because of a Irish link. Opps is that racist sorry. Didn’t realise he was called paddy for the field he works in. Oh is that racist again sorry. Then again we’re all racists ain’t we really.

His given name is Patrick, and yours is a snide post.
Nice to see so many of our posters are stuck in the 1970s - you can't beat comedy based around dated racial stereotypes. Some classic stuff on here and its as funny today as it was forty years ago.
The Aussies have reduced their price. They’re now willing to take the club off Roland’s hands for £30m.
It would be helpful if you would expand on this @JamesSeed
are you saying that over the last 2 years in L1 the Aussies have had a bid lodged with the club higher than £30m. This price we have been told was agreed and accepted by Roland and just waiting on them to complete paperwork (or actually finance the bid if you want to look at it differently).
And now now we are at a higher level they have reduced their bid?
@JamesSeed Do you know why they've suddenly lowered their offer?
Has Dalman had a lower offer accepted and they're not happy? Do they want to put the 3m difference towards director loans? Have they decided that with Bauer and probably Aribo going, the club is worth 3m less?

Thanks
now back to the Takeover thread...
I appreciate 'some' posts have been removed...off topic and all that. I am intrigued to know why some have not been removed.
I’m guessing , AFKA may have a family to get ready for school possibly a job also and can’t spend an unlimited amount of time sifting through a gizzard load of posts . of course casual racism is unacceptable and people embarrass their selves with it but give these MOD guys a break they don’t live on here 24/7
I appreciate from his reaction that he didn't mean it. If you read the thread and don't just skim for jokes/ puns, it was pretty obvious, though.
I think it was pretty obvious he was not linking it. Maybe you subconsciously look for these things and enjoy jumping on them?
Jeez we're all full of the joys at the moment, aren't we? That post was extremely bad taste imo - I accepted above that was probably unintended, though Exiled hasn't exactly apologised. Instead I'm still getting flak for calling it out?

Or 30m and Roland has to cover them so effectively the offer is 23m?
1st one might have a chance, 2nd one will surely get laughed at.
do you mean offering 33m

Not sure if this has been posted on here - Tommy D makes it sound like the takeover could be close.
I thought that was well known
