Someone acquires the club, but not the stadium and training ground.
The club ground-shares for a few seasons, or rents The Valley for a bit whilst a new stadium is built (assuming a suitable site is identified) by the new owners.
The new owners are wealthy enough, and ambitious. We end up with a new purpose built stadium and training ground, albeit eventually. There is also long-term stability.
Meanwhile, Roland fails to make a profit on The Valley or training ground.
Would you take it to get rid of The Helmet?

Interesting question. For me it would depend where the "suitable site" was. If it was fairly far away, such as out Dartford way, I would say no. However if it was still in Charlton – for the sake of argument let's say the Makro site, where the Sainsburys distribution centre is or Angerstein Wharf – I would say it would be worth it.
It would all come down to the details of the hypothetical deal though.0 -

with the recent demise of Bury , I discussed with my eldest (13) what we’d do if it happened to Charlton .
He said we can’t support anyone else just England and I agreed and said i think I’d survive but I couldn’t have as a 13 year old myself back then .
I also feel my love of football has definitely diminished over the last 5 years or so , not just Roland but the saturation of the game on telly gets on my nerves and I’m watching as little footy now as I ever have since it got picked up by Sky.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was
the winter of despair when the January window opened in 2020 for CAFC.

1984 is an astonishing work. You don't have to accept the whole premis of everything in it, but it is a masterpiece. The control freak in me would make it compulsory for everybody to read.6

Just to confirm, I was not born in 1984.0
