    Ah shaddap-a you face

    Edit - I'm wrong!
Careful, @bobmunro, you're in the naughty corner on the SISS thread too as the rules stated only one line each.
This thread has a reputation for its forensic interpretation of written rules and statements.  (See the detailed analysis of the claim that the EFL has ten days in which to respond to takeover submissions).  So it is with disappointment that I see Bob's innocence being called into question in this way.

The rules of the SISS thread are simple, clear and brief.  There are only three. The first of which defines the limit of contributions any one poster can make to the thread.  It is not one line per poster.

It's this kind of slapdash attitude to the rules of engagement within threads that has seen us end up where we are now.  Wherever that is.

    #BobIsInnocent
Thank you @Chizz for your pleas on my behalf.

However, I take full responsibility for my indiscretions, although I feel society is to blame.

    I am what I am
I am my own special creation
    So come take a look
Give me the hook or the ovation
It's my world that I want to have a little pride in
My world, and it's not a place I have to hide in
Life's not worth a damn till you can say

    I'm walking backwards for Christmas,
    Across the Irish Sea,
    I'm walking backwards for Christmas,
It's the only thing for me.

    I've tried walking sideways,
    And walking to the front,
But people just look at me,
And say it's a publicity stunt.

To the tune of Mistletoe and Wine by Sir Cwiff Wichard

    Christmas time,
    Charlton fans whine,
Everyone stressed but the takeovers fine,
Dough to spend by mid Jan-ua-ry,
A time to rejoice in the top half of the League.

    Someday our sheikh will come
    Someday we'll meet again
And away to our valley we'll go
To be happy forever I know
    Someday when spring is here
We'll find we are born anew
And the covered end will sing
    and Charlton bells will ring
Someday our dreams will come true
As we wear our Charlton bling
The upper North fan will beat his drum
As Someday our Sheikh will come.

  • We'll I'm standing by a computer but the update doesn't flow
It boils with every poison you can think of.
    Then I'm underneath the floodlights
But the light of joy I know
Scared beyond belief way down in the shadows.
And the perverted fear of relegation chokes a smile on every face
And common sense is ringing out the bells.
    This ain't no takeover breakdown
Oh no, this is the road to EFL.

I reckon the West Brom game on the 11th will be the earliest we will see a game under the new ownership.

I cannot see any work being done before the New Year.

Correct, the first week of January 2014 if I´m not mistaken.

And there was still time to sign Anil Cock.

If it does pan out to be this, then I wonder if the 'strange' comment from Bowyer was the new owners telling him that they won't  strengthen the squad until the summer, but any money from sales e.g. Taylor can be re-invested??.

We should've signed his Spanish cousin

I came back from Brasil on the Friday, the next day I was at Middlesbrough to see Thurham flapping around in his debut.  This soon got rid of the jet lag.

My take is that wouldn't be strange but unacceptable given injuries and as SHG says could be disastrous. I offer another scenario. They have singled out Taylor and Leko as potential signings. Most others are contracted until only June. Could be they will want to start afresh and SG will have his work cut out. How many kids will stay in that scenario is unclear, because while on vastly lower wages, most are also out of contract.

Perhaps a policy to sign only players under a certain age?

That wouldn't be strange though would it?  It would be quite normal for a club that doesn't generate any of its own money.

Bowyer seems to be saying some strange stuff himself.  The way he worded the Taylor situation to Cawley was weird.

Maybe it's a bit of pressure with the current results.  Maybe Bowyer is less confident of either the deal going through or his future if it does than he was.

Maybe ..... but we don't really want to get into navel gazing and speculating on a million and one reasons why a takeover might not get done.

We'll have a better chance of keeping our sanity by just being patient or doing our last minute Christmas shopping.

If it's going to happen or not happen, there's nothing we can much do to influence it.
