They’re not creating an Australian premier league club ffs. They’re buying (maybe) an English football club and aiming to get it into the premier league. The bloody arrogance of the convicts astounds me at times.
Been a while since i read this but it is clearly a love letter to us, Charlton fans. Some of the phrasing slips from the generic to the specific - 'the' training facility' 'the' club.
I like what they say about winning culture, processes etc... I worked in a high performance sport environment for a number of years and one thing everyone in that environment is banging on about is about finding the 1% or 0.5% difference that can get you ahead of your competition. You have to be relentless at seeking innovation, new ways to analysis performance and new ways to develop athletes. The days of a big spending owner flashing the cash and buying a trophy are partly over. You also need incredibly well thought out campaign plans that ensure you get the best out of your marquee players. Man City have spent up large but not just on players - also the manager and a whole lot of other technical and strategic expertise, resources etc. These Aussies are definitely talking a good game, but of course a plan is only as good as the execution. However i'd take a half arsed effort from these guys over Roland any day.
Well, if it is true, I don't think Kewell will get the most warm welcome possible, for two reasons. Firstly because I think a large part of the fan base would like to see Bowyer get a chance. Secondly because Australians coming in and appointing an Australian manager is a little bit too much like a Belgian coming in and appointing a Belgian manager. Most fans would prefer to see a manager getting a job on merit and not because he shares the same nationality with the owner.
What worries me is that story about them wanting to promote Aussie players to our club. That sent a shudder down my spine. If we do hire Kewell, that is the first shoe to drop. I will be awaiting the second shoe right afterwards. I hope Muir wants the own us for... us. But if it is as a feeder club for Aussies... my god.

At least we'll get a trip over to Australia out of it for a game.
Blimey, having a beer tomorrow with someone involved in this takeover.
To save my F5 button the trouble, and so I can enjoy my day, can I be the first to ask what time is your beer and what time are we expecting an update?! Good luck!
Tbh I'm as desperate as anyone else to find out what's going on. I'll obviously only be able to pass on what I'm told I can pass on though. It's possible that'll be zero, but really hope not. I'm actually going for a training ride during the day (for the Prostate Cancer UK ride) and have people coming round for dinner in the evening, so it looks like being a busy day.

I'll cheer on Australia for the rest of my life in the Ashes if they get us back to the premier league!

You're cycling during the day and entertaining in the evening. So I guess it's a breakfast beer meeting with the takeover person ?

I think the difficulty for a new manager - Let's assume it is Kewell - is not that fans won't warm to him or give him a chance - a decent start and we will be behind him. But the difficulty will be there will be less patience for a sticky patch. But any new manager can earn our respect, as Riga did after the sacking of Powell.

0830 cycling (to Windsor). Beer in the afternoon.
Will beer be enough, we should raise a wip to get your contact drunk and talkative.
Should Kewell take the helm one must assume it’s to please the Australian public / investors and not necessarily the Addicks fan base....not sure I’d be too happy with that if it proves to be the case.
Getting bad vibes about the way this thread is going. No wonder these are Roland's preferred bidder. Sounds almost the same as Roland's shit strategy but with a different nationality.
Roland must be pissing himself that he has put this deal together.
If this turns out to be as bad a regime as the current one, I hate to think just what a basket case Charlton will be in a few years time.
Loads people wetting themselves now about Kewell and the Aussies are as bad as Roland just because Napa threw the rumour out there again even though it hasn't been mentioned in weeks.
What do we KNOW for sure?
1. Roland is a disaster for the club and has no ambition to create a successful team, past or present.
2. The Aussies are now turning up at Charlton matches and talking to fans. This implies to me that they're 98% towards completing a successful take over of the club.
3. The Aussies have a stated ambition to reach the Premier League on their own website. Much more ambition for a team than Roland has ever shown.
What is less clear is why they took so long to meet Roland's asking price. We have no idea if that's because they're skint or equally likely, they don't want to pay Roland's inflated valuations.
We also have little to no clue on how they plan to recruit players and staff at this stage. Kewell rumours, Aussie youngsters has only ever appeared to me as lazy journalists sticking two and two together to get five.
Take a chill pill, let this play out over the next couple of weeks and hopefully things will start to look up. Anyone with an ambition to succeed is better than the indifferent Duchatelet.
I saw reports today that Sunderland's old owner has already met EFL, with the new owner meeting them later this week. We are not even there otherwise we'd hear similar news? It's been three or four weeks since their announcement that a deal has been agreed. If we haven't even got to the stage of EFL meetings then I can't see the takeover being completed in the near future? The longer it takes, the worse for our new season.

much what I said 2 days ago. Far too much guess work & speculation. There are only 2 or 3 regular posters who are only slightly ITK & they know v little. 95% of what is said on here is just regurgitated, outdated rubbish.
