  • Like a couple of people on here have suggested - Diane Abbott will be Home Secretary if Labour win by the end of the week.

May is far from the perfect choice to be PM... But if we willingly vote in someone as incompetent as DA then frankly we will deserve everything we would have coming.

Do you honestly think having her as Home Secretary is worst or more embarrassing than having Boris Johnson as Foreign Secretary?
Has anyone answered this question? People seem to be taking a lead out of the PM's book and avoiding it.

Absolutely spot on. I think it was Damo who earlier said the options here are very poor on either side. As a Lanour voter, the idea of Abbott in government is laughable. But Boris Johnson is equally useless. Labour has a costing on their promises which may yet prove foolishly wide of it's mark. May is the queen of cost cutting in which a G7 economy is starting to approach pitiable levels of NHS and policing (and god help the NHS if she gets in and applies the Naylor strategy of fire sale asset stripping). Corbyn for me, but it was before anyway. I followed this election closer tham usual as May's incompetence has kept me riveted to see what gaffe she will come out with next. Is she worse than Abbott? No, but that is setting the bar very low, and if Lanour win,at least Diane Abbott won't be PM.....

It's crazy how bad the choices for Prime Minister are in this country.
This sums it up for me. All absolute shite

Car crash Boris Johnson right now! Didn't know key figures and was totally shot down by the facts. Especially at the end! Why don't the likes of Abbott and Johnson actually do a bit of homework? They know what they will be asked.

Abbott is a million miles worse than Boris.

Boris holds himself in a conversation so much better and is more articulate when speaking.

And this is BoJo we are talking about. Point being that my 2 year old is more articulate than Abbott. That's how bad she is.

So not avoiding the question. In my opinion Abbott is worse than BoJo. Much

Regretfully I agree that Boris is better than Abbott. I actually can't think of many politicians who are worse suited to being a Home Secretary than Diane Abbott.

The fact I am keeping my LA job offer on hold till next week to see what happens (when you have nut job Trump in the driving seat over there that says something) indicates that whilst you are angry Mutts, I am also seething over Labours plans.

All in all it hasn't been a very pleasant last couple of weeks for anyone following this election - we will either have a government who clearly has upset the apple cart or a country run by a significantly smaller party who will also be unpopular.

Good times - democracy is one of the greatest things we have but it also divides us big time ;)

You measure the quality of a person to hold high office by how well they articulate? Nothing to do with what they say or what they actually achieve?

The plain truth is that with May, Corbyn, Abbott, Johnson - none are fit for office.

Yes, we both want what is best for our country and businesses. Maybe you are abit more selfish than me but hey that is conservatism. :) Seriously - no hard feelings we are all Addicks.

Got to print some T-shirts now - might slip in a Theresa May strong and Stable My Arse one for myself!

Not saying BoJo is great. Question was who is worse and I say Abbott. Not how great Johnson is.

I would say BoJo was a competent Mayor for several years
I agree he was a very good mayor.... Tbf people are questioning his suitability as foreign secretary. I am happy to say he isn't perfect but a million miles clear of someone like Abbott.
  • What are your views on what he said this morning? I accept Abbot is awful. He sits in COBRA meetings and his lack of knowledge is staggering!

  • Ok, let's let Boris off then! Ridiculous!

Well genuinely good luck with the LA job if you decide not having a Tory government is enough to make you leave the country. I don't pretend to understand your thinking on that but if you feel that's for the best fair enough.

Back at my workplace we are about to go into the next round of redundancies.
  • Just watchIng Diane 'abacus' Abbott getting ripped to shreds by Dermot Murnaghan on Sky News. She's embarrassing!!

And I have just listened to a bloke called Richard Bircham on R4 Today. He is apparently Shadow Justice Minister. He was presented with an open goal to rip May to pieces on the withdrawal of police resources. He fluffed it because he was inarticulate and frankly a bit dim. Really, I felt I could have answered better and I hesitate to say that because I know how tricky it can be in front of cameras and mikes.

Had that been Yvette Cooper or one of the Eagles, that ball would have been in the net in 20 seconds. He was in his way as bad as Abbott.

And that friends is where stupid tribal politica gets you. Bereft of serious intelligent politicians just when the country needs them most.

If you move to LA, how much do you expect to have to pay for your family's security, healthcare and education?

They are on both sides unfortunately! I can sniff out a bad un and a good un. Cameron was a top politician whether you agreed with him or not. Corbyn has proven to be again whether you agree with him or not. Abbott is a complete Joke as is Boris Johnson. You can go through the list. My local MP Grant Schapps AKA Michael Green is a former pyramid scheme promoting, rival (from his own party) sneakily slurring dodgy geezer not fit for office.

As you have said Efford is a good un. Ken Clarke is a good un! Kate Howey is a Labour joke. Jeremy Hunt is a ........... maybe I should stop there!

Importantly Theresa May whilst home secretary for 6 years cut police numbers, insulted the police, increased immigration to record levels, got rid of control orders and replaced with watered down Tpims which were hardly ever used! She creates the scene for crucial Brexit negotiation which will shape our futures, buy playing to the gallery rather than trying to build working relationships with the negotiators from the other side! We cannot have her as prime minister - she is a disater who seems to have dodged all of her many errors to become leader.

This campaign which should have been a walk in the park has been a disaster. There was no apetite or need for another election and she called it because she thought she could cruise to a landslide - selfish and crazy. No Tory will say it has been a good campaign - whatever the result. What more clues do people need. We can not have this useless politician running our country.

    Oh FFS!
  • On Abbott, I cringe during the 3 second silence we see between a complex question and her answer. She's a gift for the Conservatives, and neatly wrapped one.

More embarrassing is not the question, although she would be. For all Boris's faults, and there are many, I would still trust him to make better decisions and do a better job than Diane Abbott.

    Diane Abbott's competence is Katriennesque.

I'll gladly answer it. Abbott is a natural fool, she can't help it - Johnson is a dangerous, manipulative, scheming arsehole who masquerades as a fool. I'll let you decide who is worse.
    Abbott 100%
