    Phillips
    Solly, Konsa, Pearce, Da Silva
    Kashi, JFC
    Fosu, Clarke, Holmes
    Magennis

    New Keeper
    Dikjsteel, Bauer, Lennon, Barnes
    Crofts, Jackson
    New winger, Aribo, KAG
    Novak

I see the 2 signings KR mentioned meaning those are 22 at the minute, with RCC, Sarr, Watt also at the club. Page and Marshall not considered as out for a few months.

Have to say, look at how weak that second team looks. Still need another attacking midfielder and striker desperately, otherwise we just won't score enough.

Who "told" KR he doesn't need another RB?

    Some woman called Sue.

But this means player a promising youngster out of position. Not good for his development?

The best way to develop a young player is to play them out of position IMO.
At youth level or friendlies I can see sense in that. At first team level it might be sensible for certain players, like putting a centre back at full back. Other than that surely most players need to play in their best position though where they are most comfortable?
I did mean at youth level and friendlies - As a coach I see parents who moan when you are not playing kids in the best positions - I see kids unwilling to try other positions. The ones that develop and improve are the ones open to it every time.

I we'd signed another Right Back it would be a case of "There we go, typical Charlton. Stifling a youngster for some has-been"

    Damned if they do...

We have Barnes, Konsa, Regan Charles-Charlie-Charles and Dijksteel that can play there. I doubt many other League one teams have options like that for cover or a full back Whilst they are all relatively untried (except Konsa) ...they are all very good prospects.

The money can be better spent on striker(s)

Maybe, but not forgetting he was our stand out player against quality opposition.

    Norwich are hardly Barcelona.

I'll be shocked if we face more than one or two sides in the League this season who are even close to the quality of Norwich let alone Barcelona...

She was not referring to a "right back" when she said that, the comment related to a Ricotta Bruschetta.

The problem for us is that it won't be.

exactly, not against us relying on some promising youngsters to cover. It's not as if the first choice RB isn't good enough, even if he is not the same player he was a couple of years ago.

The problem is that they are trying to spend as little money as possible, not saving it for the more important positions.

Anybody that thinks they are going to see four new signings before the season kicks off need to take off the rose tinted spectacles.

Gobinson has been banging on about "four coming in" for weeks now then all of a sudden a couple of youngsters look promising against Norwich and he down grades his requirements to two players needed.

Watch this space for a comment after the Ipswich game with a further down grade to "one player needed as the youth have stepped up to the mark"

Gobby is the perfect mouthpiece for RD and KM, a match made in heaven.

    PROSPECTS:-
The tactical mentality that has us where we are (Konsa excepted as he is proven but is a centre back).
It is easy to lose sight of what it takes to be successful once you stick to a certain formula.
We are so over reliant on our academy to fill up our squad that it is over done.
I have said it before, but in general we overrate our players and that is most evident with our academy products who are ill equipped to be successful in this league. The point in their development that they are thrust into the first team with a handful of others at a similar stage is not what a club with serious ambitions should be attempting. It is set up to fail and fail again.

Money can only be better spent if it is spent wisely and spending on cover for Solly would be wiser if it avoided throwing yet another developing talent into the mix.
Too many youngsters that are still unproven is not going to move us on as a club, especially as the moment one proves that he is good enough, RD starts an auction. They don't all make it to the auction stage and those that don't tend to fall short for what we need.

Do you think it will be spent on a forward then?

As usual our regimes transfer policy is this.

    I hope you mean this:

Anyone at the game last night would tell you Dijksteel could play at right back when required. He can also play in the centre of defence or midfield. Sarr has also improved beyond recognition. Effectively 2 new signings.

Some will go an a GK. Likely this week.

I know Karl was very keen on Mavididi whereas KM wants another striker.

Whether we get both remains to be seen but Arsenal wouldn't release Mavididi until the end of their pre-season tour

actually, in this situation, although she shouldn't get involved, she is right! We do need another striker.

But he's saying KR wanted Mavidid. If that's what he wants, that's what he should get.

    So automatic promotion unlikely then!

If Katrien has he say to Roland for us to get the striker then what's the problem? I'm sure KR won't be complaining. Mavididi would be great but he's got championship interest so won't be easy to get. Especially as we injured him in the first place.

Past experience with this regime suggests that doesn't happen. Sounds like there's also a few Championship clubs in for Mavididi.

Transfers depend on 3 parties, it's not as simple as KR clicking his fingers and getting any player he wants.

Past experience tells us what a manager asks for is not always what he gets. Nothing has changed this season, Gobinson will ask for "X" and RD & KM will either agree or in most cases give him "Y"

I understand how transfers work. But Swisdom has made it sound like KM is choosing the players she wants, not approving or supporting who KR wants.
