still very much disputed as I understand it. I don't see how it fits the traditional definition which is a major landmass. if you look at that article you'll see that most of the scientists claiming it should be counted are kiwis, there's a chance they could be biased. claiming that it would obviously be a landmass with mountains and stuff if we removed the ocean is stretching it a bit for me
How are North and South America two separate continents.
That's bollocks.
It was only one and then they built the Panama Canal and cut it in half. BTW, if you are sailing from the Pacific to the Atlantic on the Panama Canal, which direction are you travelling in?
The American continent includes North, central and South America.
Australia is within the Asain continent.
It's petty basic.
Europe, America, Africa, Asia, Antartica
Never known it to be anything else
So, Australia, separated as it is by the Wallace line and with completely different flora, fauna and geology, is part of Asia, but Europe, separated from Asia by the Ural Mountains and with effectively the same flora and fauna and geology, isn't?
North and South America are separate continents. Try driving from one to the other - there is a gap in the south of Panama called the Darien Gap. There is a land bridge, but it is pretty impenetrable. There used to be with Asia and North America but not even Dave21 who equates Asia and Australia is arguing that they are one continent.
This is an example of what seems to be a straightforward question resulting in x different answers. How does the education system deal with this kind of issue? As Pink Floyd said "we don't need no education..".
I phoned them up and asked if they did deliveries to my area. The woman on the phone asked, 'where are you ringing from"? 'From the waist down', I told her.

Australia was Australasia as well. But it was a long time ago when i was in primary school - I believe Cook had only just discovered it!!
