Tony Watt - Waste of a Talent

No, it hasn't and needs doing.fenaddick said:
Don’t think he’s on the honours board (although I don’t think it’s been updated for a while)shirty5 said:
In that case then Dan Kanu’s cap whilst on loan at Southend would not count either?Ollywozere said:Officially, his cap isn’t recognised by the club as one earned whilst a Charlton player so doesn’t count towards our tally of internationals. As a result, he isn’t added to the International Role of Honour board at The Valley.
As Richard says, in the same vein, we claim loanees’ caps for players who play for their countries while they represent us, so you couldn’t have it both ways in that sense.
Hence my earlier comment on a committee to decide these matters0 -
i loved this guy. mad as a box of frogs but incredibly talented individual. You could say he's a wasted talent or you could say he did alright for someone who is clearly not the brightest spark.9

I don't think saying he is better than 99.99999% of people who kick a ball, or pointing out he has managed to make a career out of football is a valid point to be honest. That's an obvious statement about even the worst footballers we have had at Charlton.
He has had a very, very mediocre career, but one for which I would assume most fans of each club he has been rotated through at great pace, will have 1 or 2 fond (or very fond) memories of him, I do too. I think giving people memories in many people's minds has given rose tinted specs for his mediocrity the rest of the time.
If he had applied himself, he would have done so much more and wouldn't be rattling around Scotland.

I watched the first half last night and at one point Tony found himself in space just outside the area. He shot, the goalie saved, but as the panel said, he could've easily moved forward a couple of steps first - frustrating as ever. I turned over at half time - hate to sound snobby - but it was all a bit League One stuff
.
Anyway, turned back at full time and there was Tony being interviewed with his team mate who'd won MotM. Tony had provided the assist and Partick had managed to equalise to give them a fighting chance in the 2nd leg at St Mirren. Tony's manager did rate his strike force as the best in the division ... I guess Tony still has a few tricks up his sleeve - tricks that he's undoubtedly picked up from the 16 clubs he's represented.
I agree with @Swisdom though - he had ability and could raise bums from seats. I don't know why he prevented himself from a far better career - maybe he doesn't know himself? Using Nathan's vernacular he never really became the best version of himself.

I watched the second half due to lack of any other football on and the standard was absolutely appalling.
I like Watt though. Comes across as a decent bloke who has a genuine soft spot for us.8 -
Watched Thistle v St Mirren too. Agree standard of football was dire. Didn't know Watts was still playing. He looked the best footballer on the field - quality control and perceptive passing. Moreover he looked healthy and well
It was end to end !3 -
Watched Partick Thistle vs Dunfermline the previous week on the BBC in the previous round of the Scottish playoffs. Tony Watt came on at half time and totally turned the game around in the favour of Partick. He looked a cut above most others on the pitch.

That brief spell when he came in, he was absolutely outstanding . It was brief .3
