Mark Warburton must rate him. Signed him for Rangers as a promising youngster and tried to sign him this transfer window for Forest but couldn't agree terms. I don't know anything about him or what he has to offer but lets give him a chance, as someone else has said Kermorgant didn't arrive with an impressive track record and lets face it Novak was hardly a fans favourite. Just concerned we are light in numbers up top
Agree.
Whatever the criticism maybe be of the regime that's not the player's fault.
I want him to do well like any Charlton player so wish him nothing but good luck.
Go back and look at the Josh Magennis signing thread.
"He's shite" was a common cry from a lot of you.
Give the guy a chance. You may be pleasantly surprised.
We snatched him from under Forest's nose. They are a Championship club, by the way.
And I'd rather have a player who wants to be at Charlton, than Lee Novak, who doesn't.
Do I believe he was first choice? Absolutely not. But the figures being banded about for players now is obscene. (£1.5 million for a player that has never played above League 2? Do me a favour!) But a hole has been filled, by a young player, who has something to prove. And, if he performs well in his loan spell, maybe he will become first choice in the January window...
I expect if Joe is up top on his own, the balls going into the box will mostly be on the floor to suit his playing style as a striker. If he is quite quick and we are putting balls behind lumbering CB's in this league, it could work out well. An early goal in his stint here could really give him a boost and have a knock on effect for his confidence. All we can do is hope I suppose...
Guys guys guys.........you just never know, he may be a great success. Ok, the odds aren't exactly great but we've all seen enough over the years to know that as much as well established successful players go to a new club and flop (and don't we know it, we've lost count), and not so highly thought of players are sometimes highly successful. There's simply no rhyme or reason why this happens.......let's welcome the fella, give him a chance and see where Lady Luck takes all concerned. Far too many of you queuing up to write him off......you may be right, then again you may be wrong. Welcome Joe, for the next few months you're an Addick..........so good luck!
Personally I don't know if he's going to be a huge success or a massive flop. But it really doesn't matter if he doesn't score a single goal, or gets into double figures within a month... Because in either case we are left with TWO strikers. Two. One injury away from one senior striker at the club. Not "in the squad" , there's two in the whole squad. That doesn't scream "promotion prospects" to me
So at the start of this window KR openly stated he wanted at least one more striker, since then we have removed Ajose, Watt, Novak, Umerah and Hanlon from the squad. Leaving us with just Magennis, Henry's boy and KAG, so we sign another reasonably untested lad to help with the workload. It is beyond odd.
My next door neighbour is part of the Leicester City coaching/fitness team. When he get's back in from work tonight I'll ask him for the low down on Jo.
I know nothing about him so will reserve judgement and hope his name is not symbolic. I think with Novak gone, we needed two strikers in though - idealy. Let's hope Josh stays fit.
I agree mutt - I know nothing of him so will reserve judgment. My mate who has seen him play said he's the sort of player you bring on and he makes it worse, so that's a bright start to my Friday morning
the little clip of his hat trick shows that he knows how to score .. inconsistency and lack of a proper football 'education' might be his weaknesses .. anyway he's here, welcome Joe and all the very best of good fortune .. there'll be a problem with that surname though, as soon as/if you ever miss an open goal .. the last ex Leicester striker we signed didn't turn out tooo badly

I think your find he wanted another in to add to Magennis, KAG and Novak the others were never in his plans

Well even taking that into consideration we are still one down.
Never seen him play. More to the point, has KR ever seen him play? I would hazard a guess that he hasn't. Never mind, with Lucky Dip there is always a chance..
His first goals in each of those videos upthread ought to have everyone on here going bonkers with hype. What's happened CL? Why so jaded? Let's have a bit less 'waaah Novak was experienced' and a bit more 'SHIT LOOK AT THAT VOLLEY HE'S GONNA SCORE 30 THIS SEASON'
Surely he's worth a try, back at Leicester he scored 4 goals in 3 league cup games. Weird he wasn't given more opportunities there as he was also (by stats) fairly decent for their under 23's when he was still in the u19/u20 age category.

Can push Clarke up top and have Reeves behind. So what if Clarke doesn't score many? Neither did Novak so what's the problem!

I agree we are still short in numbers and quality, I would love to see KAG make it but he doesn't seem to have pushed on in the last 2 years
How about we give the kid a chance and see what happens. Many players are considered surplus to requirements and excel at another club. KR so far has not let us down with the signings he has made and im positive this one will come good.
Can't give stick to the lad, not his fault we have signed him!
Hope he does well obviously, and although I wouldn't have been dancing round my living room, I wouldn't have lost sleep last night if he had been added to Josh and Novak for the strikers spot. But relying on him now to compete with Magennis is the mad thing.
Only trumped by the fact we have no doubt trained all week for Novak to start tomorrow and now he's gone. Seriously think Clarke will start up top tomorrow.

No idea why but I've a good feeling about this lad. Welcome Joe.

redYouTube videos before , hence everyone's not fawning over him like some did Polish Pete!"Since he went to Rangers, he has not played much as a number nine, which is the position he wants to play in and the position I want to play him in."
