I've just put a short synopsis on Jo on the match preview thread from my neighbour who works with LCFC in coaching/fitness/sports scientist role. He joined LCFC at age 9 and he worked with him for 4 years.
Will give us another option as was always on the last defenders shoulder and think once the others get to know him the will look for the pass more than they did today for him.
Spot on. He was constantly pulling the CH around and making space for the through ball. Which never really came. He'll score goals.
First impressions on his 40 mins cameo he's not the same type of player as Josh but has got pace and a few tricks and flicks. He's a six footer so passes the height test and offers a different option especially from the bench when defences are tiring or you need to get another attacker on. Linked well with Fosu who seem to have bonded already. Took his goal well and appreciated the acclaim he got. I'm hopeful he'll be an asset especially when the he has properly settled, after all he only met his team mates at the hotel last night.
Much as I f*cking hate Duchatalatet, Miere & the regime toadies infesting our club you have to give the guy a chance - I remember how Kermorgant was dismissed on here as a crap signing
I make you right although some of us, few I grant you, didn't think Kermorgant was a `crap' signing. Sven Goran Eriksson had signed him to lead his Leicester City promotion attack to the premiership in 2011 so there was clearly a good player in there. Too many here, and elsewhere, took THAT penalty miss as an indicator of the whole player....and that clearly wasn't a true reflection on what he brought to the side. Powell new exactly how good he was. The rest is history of course.
Love this. Remember when everyone asking why we signed De Silva. Rather than give the lads a chance to prove themselves once again they have shut the knockers up

I think you'll find that no-one was knocking the lad, but were knocking the situation of letting an experienced striker go & bringing in a young lad who'd only played 4 league games in England & that we had failed to get back up for Josh.

Who have 'shut the knockers up', I don't follow? Dasilva came on for his debut v Millwall as a sub, and then got subbed because he was getting battered. That's got to be disquieting to some.

Indeed. He also then didn't start for another 15 games and played a grand total of 38 minutes across that span. People were wondering why we bothered signing him at all if we weren't going to play him. Facts get in the way of narrative though

The same lot that we're knocking the experienced striker last season and the start of this campaign. People knocked Desilva when we signed him, stating why didn't spend the money from the Fox sale and bringing in a kid from Chelsea with no experience and then he wasn't good enough after taking off against Millwall. Short memories, and thickle.
Took his goal well...i can think of a few ex strikers of ours who missed many one on one's...vetokele missed them on a regular basis so give the kid a chance and like robinson has done do your homework before slagging of a player .....going back over the comments on this thread is embarrasing and a few of you should hang your heads in shame .......100% behind karl and the boys
Some impressed, some not, almost as if people on CL are individuals and don't all share the same view.

"Henry Irving December 2016 Welcome Jay, hope you do well for us.
Pace is so important these days and at our level can change a game.
He is clearly inexperienced but that is why Chelsea want to loan him. A calculated risk like all loans so we'll have to wait to see how he gets on in mens football.
Does show the benefit of having a manager with British connections in the game."

He did and he missed chances as well. It happens.
As you say a "few" people should hang their heads in shame. Most want him to be a success though. There's a difference between having an opinion and slagging off posters on a forum for the sake of it.
George Tucadean scored a goal for Charlton once. Look how that turned out. Just saying that one swallow doth not a summer make. Those backing him now will be slagging him off in January if that is his one and only goal. Now is not the time to judge.

As I said, (and I always liked Dasilva - said he 'looks an exciting prospect'), some thought it was odd to sign a guy (on loan) and then bring him on and off in the same game. Made it look like a poor decision. You can't blame people for thinking that at the time. Then, when he gets more matches and plays brilliantly, of course people will change their opinions. That's not being fickle (thickle?) that's modifying your opinions according to the evidence. Fans have every right to express opinions about players based on evidence. And every right to change their minds.
Last season I was saying that Magennis only looks good when fully fit and firing on all cylinders. I'd pretty much stick with that, although he's been improving with each game I've seen him play in this season. Last season he played well in about 10 games I'd say. I'm happy with him as our main strike now while in Div 1 and possibly beyond, but if someone better came in, that would be great.
You have to realise people expressing opinions doesn't necessarily mean they have a hidden agenda as you're implying.
And as for Joe Dodoo, I saw enough to think he has loads of promise. He's less of a battering ram than Mag, but he's not slight, and won some headers. But he has guile and tricks and flicks. They won't come off all the time of course, but they only have to come off once or twice in a match to create chances. He'll be very useful to bring off the bench if Mag starts. Defenders won't like marking him for sure. And he might develop in to a very good player.

You are right mate, it's too early to judge. Finally, the voice of reason...

My perspective as an absentee is that you cannot ask for much more from a striker than a goal on debut.

The reality of what was said when Dasilva signed.

Lets hope we have the option to extend the loan or buy. IF he is still banging them in by January.

(I favour seth plum's 'we've got him til January' for the second line btw)
