Great performance from Shelvey. Must have a chance of an England recall if he can keep playing like this
Whats laughable is people will point to the stats with his lack of assists / goals for Newcastle this season no doubt being less than a few players.
What they fail to realise is the fact that Shelvey can do all the passes he wants but if the team mate on the end of them doesnt score then he wont get the achievement.
Just wondering what he could do with Harry Kane on the end of them!!
I just think we need to look past Shelvey's disciplinary problem for five minutes
The balls he was playing today are the type that England are crying out for ... Give him a cap against Holland or Italy and go from there, if he messes up then I agree he's wasted it
Why do you keep comparing him with Alli? They're both ill disciplined. Shelvey has been sent off twice this season already... if thats not a liability i don't know what is.
Shelvey was superb and if he can keep his petulance at bay then he could still make it as an international footballer. But he will look even better in a team that isn't constantly struggling and a move to a top six side can only help.
All the Newcastle players put a shift in but the bad news for Elliot is that the display of Newcastle's new keeper, Dubravka, was as good a debut as I have seen - not just the saves such as the one on one with Martial but his decision making as to when to come and when to punch or catch was brilliant.

Because both are ill-disciplined yet for some reason everyone turns the other way with Alli and ignores his behaviour
If they're as bad as each other then on everyone's argument, neither should be picked by England

Alli has less horror tackles/straight reds in his locker.
He's also a far better player so his ill-discipline is outweighed by his ability.

What about that one that one against Man City that should have gotten him a red card?
He is a much better player Im not denying that (though his form is shocking this season) yet if you say one player shouldnt be in the England team purely because of discipline then others have to dropped too
Needs to sort the dirty side of his game out first
Absolutely stupid comment!!!
What about Dele Alli who isnt just dirty but he's a cheat too!!
Until we ditch this attitude of only picking good boys on the football field we wont win anything as we'll be too toothless
Shelvey is a good player but he is also a spiteful, petulant dirty prick. Sort that side of his game out and he could be in line for the England squad.
If any comment is stupid then it surely has to be yours!

plus he's only committed two more fouls than Alli has despite having played nearly double the amount of Premier League games

From 2014/15 till now he has 28 yellow cards and 4 reds.

Looks like a high points total required for teams to stay up this year, could be looking at 40+ maybe.
Hopefully after the next 3 games Palace will be 3+ pts inside the relegation zone.
Think we need a bit of ooahhmortimer to reign us all back in though.
Liverpool 's kit is doing my head in - fluorescent orange and yellow for the outfield players and keeper respectively.

I think this year it will require a decent points total to finish 17th
