Of course, Michael Gove has promised that the UK will legislate for higher standards post Brexit.
Only a terrible cynic might suggest that, if UK legislation would go beyond that of the EU, there would be no need to overturn the Lords' amendments that sought to retain the EU rights and protections in UK law.
I'm sure that no-one will have cause to complain in years to come at the haste with which that particular quantity of bath water has been thrown out.5 -
i can’t see us every leaving the EU
The referendum will turn out to be the biggest shame on democracy in the uk ever

How would a violent uprising solve it?8

This was referenced yesterday but none of our Leavers responded and I suspect it got lost a bit in the PMQ's shenanigins and whatever.

"There's zero evidence that independent trade deals will provide any economic benefit to the UK that's material. It's a myth..."
When we have the representative of our most important manufacturers warning that Brexit could result in the "extinction" of certain areas of UK trade shouldn't we at least pause to consider what they have to say properly? Or have we really arrived at a point in the process where political dogma trumps any practicalities and our economic well being?

There's no point listening to people who know what they're talking about, they know nothing. It doesn't matter if we are worse off, we voted to stop immigration, take back control of our borders and regain sovereignty. We can now make our own laws, instead of Brussels. Did you know the EU makes 250% of our laws? Fact. We all knew exactly what we voted for. Don't ask me what the Irish border solution Is, it's not my problem.Bournemouth Addick said:This was referenced yesterday but none of our Leavers responded and I suspect it got lost a bit in the PMQ's shenanigins and whatever.

It's absolutely, definitely, going to be a great success. Fact. And if it isn't, it will be because of all the remoaners not getting behind Great Britain. Traitors.
Sorry, what was the question?4 -

They did admit they deliberately led voters "up the garden path" though and seemed quite proud of the fact they'd mugged the public off.
The idea that the likes of Banks was responsible for the direction this country is going for decades to come is shameful.5 -

So, er, nothing to do with the gross incompetence of the Brexit Minister Davis or the Brexit supporting Foreign Secretary Johnson who are both responsible for the process of delivering Brexit then?nth london addick said:i can’t see us every leaving the EU

Brexit has overwhelming media support and yet the government still can't deliver it despite the fact that the opposition - led by the worst opposition leader in history - ARE NOT EVEN OPPOSING BREXIT EITHER.
Cameron fucked up with the referendum, should never have held it as the matter is way too complex to decide on a yes or no vote.
The best thing he did was resign immediately and leave it to the Brexit crew to actually deliver Brexit because he knew - as did anyone with a functioning brain - that it was undeliverable without causing catastrophic economic damage to the country.
The clock is ticking now and the Brexiters are getting exposed for what they always were, a bunch of bellicose extremists who are very good at making lots of noise but not actually willing to take responsibility for anything.
So, given they don't want the responsibility of wrecking the joint with the inevitable hard Brexit they take the easy route by blaming other people for not being able to deliver Brexit, it's what they are their mates in the media have always done best, blame someone else.
There are no "traitors in the political elite" Brexit has a majority in the House of Commons but as the clock ticks closer to the deadline they are getting more terrified by the minute because, as we all knew all along, they didn't really expect to win and had - and still have - absolutely no idea whatsoever on how to to take Britain out of the EU and unravel forty years of hard work in building the most successful international trading bloc in global history.
Utter cowards.6 -

Brexiters knew completely and fully what they were voting for, and they won.
Everything that has happened since their thoroughly thought through victory was and has been anticipated.
Nobody has taken that victory away.
There is nobody to praise or blame for anything but themselves. Each and every single brexit voter.
Their plan is a secret known only to themselves but that is a fruit of their victory. They don't have to tell anybody what the good or bad bits are when asked.
Any brexit voter who does not wholly and ful!y own their victory and everything that flows from that seems to me to be a coward.
The country belongs to the winners, losers like me will complain forever until brexiters find a way to shut us down. For me I complain because the country I once shared with others has been taken by 52% in a successful power grab, and being an alien in the country I have been in since birth is difficult to assimilate.

my main problem with brexit has been that T.May & the rest of the government /parliament are trying to appease all sides, but especially the remainers. The referendum was quite simple....we leave the EU. We joined it quite easily enough (at the 2nd time of asking) so we leave in the same way. There was always going to be tough decisions along the way, but you have to make them & move on. There has been too much fannying about. We should have told the EU our terms....paid them our exit fee & left.0 - Sponsored links:

I am a singular individual.
Indeed I have always politely responded to you, albeit asked you specific questions which you have been unable to answer, but never couched my remarks rudely in your direction.
To use the phrase 'people like you' in order to put me in a box is similar to the catch all phrase of 'foreigners' and 'immigrants'. You can describe me by what I have done (voted remain) but please don't use the 'people like you' phrase because in my view that is straying into a territory very close to that occupied by the racists.
As for your main problem with brexit, you wrote above that you are prepared to own it, so any problem is down to you, and down to you to solve.
Your comment about living in the same planet is true. To try an analogy, we occupy the same country but you own it now, and I exist in the shadows, the shadows of the decisions you make and continue to make.
You won, you are responsible.1 -

I'm sure the bloke himself will be just fine personally. He's extremely wealthy himself and, like yourself, has an Irish passport, but probably hasn't nailed his up somewhere to wind up a colleague who was unable to source an EU passport post-Brexit.
So I don't think he's really looking after own interests by making these repeated warnings tbh. More so the interests of the 100,000's of business his organisation represents.
Predictably the press have gone straight to JRM for a top up of the Project Fear rhetoric as a result though so we've no need to worry, it's all going to be great. Unless the CBI are right and Moggys wrong of course.0 -

This one is the original one. The one who half jokingly recalls his earlier years as a bit of a hoolie, who thinks the world's problem can be solved in much the same way as a few Leeds or whatever were removed from the Covered End.
The second one was an impressive geezer who was working hard to do the Knowledge but realised it might not be a career with prospects and insteaed bravely set up his own business in international logistics and quickly gained the confidence and custom of global giants like Coca-Cola. Sometimes he would post us fotos from the lorry lines near Calais which showed us that the migrant issue there was a real and pressing issue for his business.
I was really trying to get the second NLA posting again because it would be interesting to know whether he thought Ciaran the White Van Driver is right or not, since he would be in a position to know. Does anyone know what has happened to NLA v2?
