Overton will do well, just the type of character we need against the convicts.
I thought he did well in the warm up games so should get a match. Also they should play Crane - not ever seen him play but if he's in the squad as a spinner then he has to play (assuming Ali's not going to bowl) - no point him being there otherwise. Root can fill in a few overs but can't be expected (or even considered) as the main spinner.
Not sure yet what I'm going to do tonite/early morning. I usually like to see the first session but do I sit up until 3.30 & watch it until 6/7 am, or go to bed for a few hours & then get up at 3.30/4.0 am ? Seeing as its Saturday tomorrow I'll probably watch most of it & go back to bed towards the end of play or at tea (dinner their time) and sleep until midday.
With Overton likely to play, its reminded me of his opening bowler counterpart from the U-21's , Reece Topley - whats happened to him?
He has been doing recovery training up at Loughborough with Jamie Porter, Toby Roland Jones and some other injured player who I can’t remem alongside side the England PACE development young bowlers.
Also, slightly off Ashes topic @cantersaddick mentioned on Surrey thread couple of months ago about Currans being down on pace compared to last season due to amount of overs bowled but Jamie said they reckon they bowled as fast as ever this season

Fair enough. I think the point I was trying to make was that Alec Stewart had said at a members meeting that the reason the Currans hadn't been picked for the lions squad was that the selectors were worries about the amount of overs they had bowled in the season and that as both of them had been on tours the previous winter they hadn't had a rest in more than 19 months.
Think we have to have a bowl at the Aussies if we win the toss.
In 2010 we got them three down for only two runs after the first couple of overs. Not saying we can do it again but the way to get some momentum back in this series is to take some quick wickets IMO.

Let’s hope the rest of your predictions be as accurate as the toss decision @Callumcafc
I'm in Adelaide, though not at the Test today. I thought England would like to bowl. It's like an English day here, fairly cool, breezy and very cloudy. Hopefully a good day ahead, setting the game up for my visits to the Adelaide Oval for the second and third days.
pile of poo at the moment. I got up at 3.15 am to watch this tripe. After 12 overs we'd only bowled 5% of balls on a full length - 60% were short. Woakes comes on & bowls a load of tripe too. I'm giving it another 20 mins & then I'm back off to bed.

Thought we may have come out showing a bit of bite and looking to respond - couldn't have been more wrong.
Sadly, we don't have a prayer in this series.
Warner absolutely screwed Bancroft over.
