Did you know of an England youth player at your school from the year above you? I ask because when our school (St Pauls, Abbey Wood) played yours (c1988) we were told you had quite a few very good players and this one in particular scored this fantastic goal scissor kick goal. Hence we lost 5-3!
Thanks for that. I also noticed a Greenwich link for "Rodney".
In 1764, Rodney was created a baronet, and the same year he married Henrietta, daughter of John Clies of Lisbon. From 1765 to 1770, he was governor of Greenwich Hospital.
In 1782 Rodney was presented with the Freedom of the City of Cork, Ireland. The gold presentation box is held by the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich.
Henwick Primary 1959-63 Eltham Green 1963-68. (I was in H house)
Did you know a Dave Evans from Eltham Green?
Yes. I was in quite a few of the same subject classes as him. His best friend was Chris Brown. They both liked to sit at the back of the room and be a double act.
Lol-I maybe should have mentioned it earlier but Dave Evans is my Dad! He's still trying to make people laugh bless him, but doesn't see Chris Brown anymore. He's still got a season ticket at Charlton too.
Very noticeable the amount of older fans who went to schools around the Charlton area, and the distinct lack of the younger generation posting the same
Perhaps the youngsters don't understand the question! ;0)
Have definitely posted on this thread before but...
Henwick Primary 1965-1971 Thomas Tallis 1971 - 1976
Two of my kids went to Tallis, eldest son left last year, daughter left 4-5 years ago, all changed now, demolished and moved 300 yards to the right and now called an academy of some sort.

Hope Powell went to Abbey Wood, she used to destroy all the boys at football.

Couple of years ago was driving that way and it had gone!
So no blue plaque for me in Horn Park Lane then...
Horn park is still there isn't it? They rebuilt the school a few years back and built houses where the front of the school used to be. Called it Alnwick terrace or something similar.

The main road is called Alnwick Road if memory serves.

Happy days, mostly. Still don't like the colour green because of the uniform, although my uniform was non-existent from about the 3rd year. Don't think the school is called Eltham Green anymore and I think the uniform is navy blue.
I went there from '69 to '76 and I have this horrible feeling that I may have put you in detention when I was a prefect! I hated being one and I only ever nicked one person and I have suddenly realised it might have been you! That's why you looked familiar when I first met you! Anyway sorry by the way but you probably deserved it ;-)

Did she? That wouldn't have happened at my 'mixed' secondary school! As all sports and even the playgrounds were separated.
Greenacres Primary School - 1992-1998 Kemnal Technology College (formerly Kemnal Manor) - 1998-2005.
My Mum (Mrs Richardson) was a classroom helper at Greenacres when you were there. I went to Greenacres in the late 1950's and Crown Woods in the early 1960's.
