Totally agree with chappers,last night the team staged a monumental comeback in injury time to get a polnt,the crowd played no small part in this,supporting the team even louder when we went 2 down.Everyone has their choices,but this team and manager relate to the fans far more than in recent seasons.and deserve to play in front of a bigger audience.So,come on guys,put Roland out of your mind,help get the Valley back to what it was,and help get the club promoted.
Respect to those who go (I do) and respect to those who stay away, sadly the answer is for the regime to sell, only then will the team see the united fanbase and bigger crowds they deserve.
We have a slightly above average side in a below average division in front of dismall crowds Katrein Meire and Roland Duchatelet did that, no one else, just them, they are the root cause and the only cure and no amount of 'come on lads', upwards and onwards or COYRs will change that.
On another thread someone refers to playing at Selhurst and 'being a proper club back then', I hated the dump, still went and respected those who stayed away. I would never in a lifetime have thought that I would have considered that things could get worse. Not financially but emotionally, I think there was a togetherness then that eclipses what we have currently.
Last night for 87 minutes I just accepted what we are, a likeable squad of players with a few starlets and hard workers with an enthusiastic manager playing in front of sparse crowds but rudderless and not interested in the slightest above Karl Robinson, its so sad.
Cue a crazy last 4 minutes and all is ok for the drive home, then I get up and realise they are still here, slowly squeezing the life out of my club and I am supposed to be grateful for an 8 week contract for a journeyman forward and a £75 gift wrapped shirt.
Watches every game via a live feed my arse, its a lie and he couldnt give a flying fuck about us.
I am sure I would not not be the only one predicting a massive increase in the crowd the home game after the deal us done. Possibly overoptimistic but I seriously doubt it.
A combination of not caring about the short term future or success of the club, all the while it is owned by someone that is destroying from the top down, and others that just don't care any more because they have stopped enjoying going.
The latter are the biggest worry and the worst legacy of the current regime because many of those fans will not come back. Football attendance, with it's financial cost and the disruption to other family activities, is a habit that is easily lost and much harder to establish. That is what made our successes in the 90s and the early 00s, driven by those that owned the club and a small number of fans in strategic positions within it, so impressive. I honestly believe that Target 40,000 would have been achieved had we held on to our Premier League status and the likes of Airman Brown, Henry Irving and Wendy Perfect, and others, had been allowed to continue their work. This is a bold statement that few other clubs could make.
All that hard work has been undermined now and it might take two decades of significant success, on the pitch, to get to the point where T40k is a realistic goal again - if it ever is. Not to mention that those involved, previously, might not have the enthusiasm to do it again - and I'm quite convinced that it was the characters involved, rather than the money available, that achieved so much. However, they are, now, all twenty years older and their lives will have moved in different directions. It would be a lot to ask them to jump back in and do it all again.
In fairness not all of this can be blamed on RD and KM. Alan Pardew, for example, is entitled to some 'credit', but I'm comfortable with the lions share being attributed to the Belgians. More significantly, I don't believe that the climb back can ever begin all the while KM is running the club and RD owns it.
Until then it is both unrealistic and unfair to even ask fans to come back when they don't want to, let alone demand it!

I think a lot would depend on timing. If the sale happens around the time of a promotion, then we'd get a fair amount of (presumably) positive press and media. Newspaper coverage almost disappears completely with a drop from the Championship to League One. TV coverage too. I really fear for the club's future if we stay in Div One too long, particularly under these owners.
