Amazingly proud of this team for their guts and resiliency a team with a tiny budget going against the odds it’s the Charlton way.

Next season maybe a struggle but for now I can enjoy this moment

    She's Irish lol
Is she Jack Grealish/Connor Coventry Irish or actually Irish though? 😉
She was actually born in Kenya, so more Sichenje Irish!
Born in Enfield to an English father and Irish mother, moved to Africa at 3 months, lived in Kenya and Tanzania before moving to Washington DC aged 9. Speaks with an American accent, represents Ireland and punches footballs in the face
    One of our own then

If like me you want to rewatch the penalty shootout and the aftermath. It's interesting, I noticed a lot more about the shootout this time round, mostly because I wasn't watching from behind my fingers this time

    SOPHIE WHITEHOUSE HAVE MY BABIES!!!!
This message is not approved by my wife.
With respect your wife isn't a keeper ... Sophie Whitehouse is!

I know she's signed for another season, but put a long term, improved, contract in front of Sophie. It would be nice to be able to fend of the big boys. Because after that performance, they'll be like sharks in the water...

So glad they got it over the line after the end of the season.  Some of our passages of play were woeful today but Leicester were equally bad.  Whitehouse needs a statue.

I hope the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea next season attract large crowds at the Valley. Potentially 15kish?
Dunno why this is getting lols Arsenal averaged 35k for their matches at the Emirates this season. I have friends who follow them regularly and for the big matches even as regular attenders it was difficult to get tickets. Yes part of the attraction is the Emirates but you'd think with that level of following it would bring in a significant crowd to another London game and new stadium for them, on top of our own contingent increasing a bit plus neturals looking to see some WSL or some of the lionesses a decent contigent of which play for Arsenal.

I said hope not expect. Its certainly what we should be working towards for those games against the big teams in WSL that are also London based. I'm well aware most games won't attact big crowds at all.

    Brilliant stuff!

Is there a big difference in tv money/sponsorship in WSL? Will the owners need to put their hands deeper into their pockets to make the team competitive at the level above?
TV income is about £10-£15m split between the clubs which is the main one.

I think the hope would be to increase attendances significantly.

Average WSL club gets £5-7m revenue per season but that’s massively skewed by the big clubs.

We will have the smallest budget in the league by quite some way due to the similar financial restrictions in relation to only being able to spend a percentage of revenue on the squad and our revenue will be tiny.

I think owners can eject some equity outside the rules, so realistically they will need to do that if there is any hope.
Any risk that the owners “injecting equity” into the women’s team will detract from how much can be spent on the men’s team this summer?

No regulatory reasons, purely down to what they’re willing to spend and where. The money needed to spend in women’s football is low though. Majority of business is still done on frees and the most expensive players are only just hitting £1m

    Let's hope so.

Spend money on the more sucessful, higher level team and bin off the underperforming, overexpensive mens' side.

    It's the only sensible decision.

    She plays for Ireland sir
Irish presents as English when it suits them. I remember my grandmother. Crafty as a leprechaun. (Are there female leprechauns?)

Congratulations to the women's team who deserved to go up if only for the determination they showed today.

    Whitehouse was excellent.

Give her a free trip to Washington.

I remember when Jack Charlton was managing Ireland, you could qualify to play for them if you owned an Irish Setter.🤭

    Well done to the ladies.

I watched a large chunk of the game and it was a tough watch. Not much different to many other games at The Valley this season!

Do we get any extra subs for extra time?
I believe we have one more sub but there's no-one to bring on. The only sub I see us making is Pearse when we go 1-0 up in injury time
    3 were warning up.
