they're bottom and coming down anyway I suspect, I can't see them beating any of the WSL top 3, they're on a 9 game losing streak and haven't won a game this calendar year!Kap10 said:Are there any indications of Leicester cost cutting and pulling out of WSL 1?0 -
Aren't the play off team from the WSL?sam3110 said:

I've not heard anything to suggest that, and I'd be surprised if they did. We we did that on relegation from the Premier League it was about balancing the budgets. Their losses are on a much bigger scale and a couple of million to cut a minimal WSL1 budget to a minimal WSL2 one, or even to zero, wouldn't really touch sides. They'd be better off keeping the women's team in order to make the overall package look better to a potential buyer, if that's the way they go.Kap10 said:Are there any indications of Leicester cost cutting and pulling out of WSL 1?
And if their owners can fund the losses and the only issue is the League One spending limits, the costs of the women's team don't count towards that so there would be no benefit.1 -

Shame, thanks. I followed the pre relegation women's team and at the time was friends with Andrew Mercer who sponsored the Women for a while. I believe it was his sponsorship that coined "Addicted to Women" which was on banners and had Sven Goran Erickson pictured beside!Swindon_Addick said:

Still hoping that we don't need to care about this, but Burnley and Watford are the two clubs getting promoted automatically and the playoff will be Wolves against Plymouth. Portsmouth have been relegated from the division due to Ipswich's win over Birmingham.Swindon_Addick said:Obviously we're hoping that we don't need to care about the makeup of the second tier next season, but perhaps worth noting that Watford have won the southern division of the tier 3 league again, so they will be promoted. The second of the three slots goes to the winner of the north division, which looks like being Burnley but could also be Wolves. The third goes to a playoff on Monday 4 May when whichever club loses out in the northern division will play either Plymouth or Bournemouth.
Those 3 promoted sides replace the 2 who get automatic promotion to WSL1 plus whoever finishes last in the very tight battle at the bottom, leaving WSL2 still with 12 clubs next season.0 -
On reflection, it was a set of results that were not perfect, but could have been worse.
Palace’s victory means we have no guarantees.
However, Birmingham’s defeat (and our draw) means we’re back on top, our destiny is still in our hands, our chances look no worse than before the weekend, a draw next week guarantees promotion, and a win guarantees the title. All of which is a better scenario than we expected.
Also, of the three teams, we probably had the trickiest fixture on paper, so to come out of it in pole position has to be a plus.
There’s a target to aim for and even a consolation prize up for grabs.
Just one performance needed. Come on girls, get the win. You can do it!

Still quite annoyed this morning, the mental boost of being 3 points clear and showing some life at the end would have been huge and all we had to do was hold out for a couple of minutes. Plus a draw on Saturday guaranteeing not only promotion but the title would have been nice, don't really want the mixed bag of drawing, getting promoted but getting pipped to the title by Palace. I'd take it though!4

The late equaliser didn't change anything in terms of promotion, although a draw next week would have been enough for the title had we won yesterday. But ultimately a draw gets us promotion and a win gets us the title. I think it is unlikely Palace don't win at home to Portsmouth.1

Oh I didn't realise it was Leicester in the play offs, you would fancy any of the top 3 in WSL2 to turn them over0

This is great news
During Phase One, women’s first-team season ticket sales also surpassed the total sold in each of the last 10 campaigns, underlining the growing excitement around the women’s team’s outstanding campaign.

Non-Executive Chairman Gavin Carter has shared the following open letter to supporters ahead of Saturday's fixture at The Valley which sees Charlton Athletic Women take on Birmingham City in a winner-takes-all clash for promotion to the Barclays WSL:
Dear fellow fans,
Saturday’s win was another marker in our extraordinary history at The Valley. Watching from afar, I was incredibly proud. Proud of our players. Proud of the staff. Proud of you.
And now, another huge afternoon at The Valley awaits. Come back home for one last time this season as Karen Hills and her women’s team look to take their chance to write history and secure promotion to the Women’s Super League.
We’ve been top of the table for so much of the season, playing fantastic football along the way. Now we face Birmingham City in a promotion showdown. With Crystal Palace just one point behind, and two promotion places available, everything is on the line. A win or a draw takes us to the promised land.
If you are not travelling to Swansea, I would encourage you to come back to SE7, watch the screening of the boys and then get behind the women. If you have never experienced women’s football at The Valley, I would urge you to give it a go. This team embodies everything Charlton stands for. This group has been characterised by energy, bravery and togetherness. They have given us an incredible 18 months: a 27-game unbeaten run, record attendances and a league campaign that has put promotion in our hands.
A place in the top tier of women’s football is at stake. We are all in this together and, just like last weekend, your support will make the difference. So, head to our home, to The Valley, on Saturday. Back this team, and help end the season on a high.
Up the Addicks,
Gavin

Obviously we hope this won't be relevant, but if we do end up in the play-off, it'll be against Leicester - they'll definitely finish bottom of the WSL now, as they're currently 7-0 down to Arsenal so are 7 points adrift with 2 games left.0

Leicester look properly finished0
