I was hopeful for the first 5 minutes and then the normal "big game" performance turned up.
Does Robinson do any training on what to do should we go behind?
We look utterly clueless when we concede first and play like we don't know how to get ourselves back in the game - it all goes to shit when the opposition take the lead.
Utter toilet. Shrewsbury barely had to get out of second gear to beat us.
Im amazed we are anywhere near 6th based on the performances over the last couple of months. I think all the teams around us being shite too has helped. In reality we are mid-table side at best.
Compare this league to the promotion season under Powell. The standard is a joke.
Really shows how poor we are.
Not sure that's true. Wigan and Shrewsbury both took us to pieces at the Valley this season and are much more impressive sides than either of the Sheffield teams were back then.
Just because it's Wigan and Shrewsbury doesn't mean they're sh*t - if the team we played today were called Sheffield then I doubt many people would make the same points.
Second this. I think there's a lot more quality in depth in this league, and that Shrewsbury, Wigan, and Blackburn are all teams that would have given us a good run when we went up under Powell.
Callum you make the excellent point that because these aren't necessarily "big name" clubs doesn't mean they're shit, and to be fair, both Wigan and Blackburn have been in the Premier League in the last five years.
I think we're underperforming. Badly right now. But that doesn't mean that there aren't good teams in this league.
I know it pains a lot of people to admit it but there is no comparison between that CP team and the club as a whole than what we are right now....absolutely none. Let’s not try and rewrite history.
On the topic of the referee, maybe one of the most amatuerish things I've seen all season was early on when Kaikai went on a run and was having his shirt grabbed for a good 5-10 yards and the referee played advantage, which was good, BUT HE DIDN'T GO BACK AND BOOK THE PLAYER! It was clearly an attempt at a professional foul, no question, and it was clear that the referee just forgot.
Obviously didn't impact the result, just annoyed me.

I have no problem admitting that, though it is of course painful.
I don't think you read my post as it was intended. At no point did I say this team was comparable to Powell's. What I was trying to say is that there are some good teams in this division who would have been up there in the season we were promoted.
Well I’d like to say it’s good to be back, but that was absolutely abysmal. Can’t name a single player who played well other than possibly JDS, Aribo was okay.
To be honest I don’t really blame the players, could anyone that watched that honestly tell what the game plan was?? Absolutely dreadful, woefully ineffective and after the first 5 minutes never even looked like we were close to thinking about scoring
Outplayed, outfought and outsung! Did we have a shot on target? The fact that we’ve dropped points against mediocre opposition in recent week ought to have told you what to ecxpect today. Imagine what it might have been without their recent illness and paying midweek. What will Robinson’s excuses be this week? Just sack him off,we’d be better off with no manager, at least we wouldn’t have to listen to his s**t! Pride! Passion! Where was that today? It’s all rhetoric from the manager and now people can see it for what it is.
I'm sounding like a broken record but again there was a distinct lack of leadership on the pitch and, again, a lack of nous from the manager on the sidelines.
Robinson's in game management is woeful, he seems to lack any ideas on how to change a game once it's in play and he really doesn't know how to use substitutes effectively.
I'm not sure I'd sack him now - and he won't be sacked given what's going on behind the scenes - but I wouldn't shed any tears if it were to happen.
At this point there is nothing to gain by sacking the manager. There's too little left in the season.
We have to hope we string enough results together to finish 6th and go up via a flukey play off win.
Either way, Robinson should not be in charge next season.
I don't necessarily disagree that Robinson should go in the summer, I'm pretty agnostic on it at the moment. But I don't think losing to the side second in the table who really stopped us from playing is the game to put the marker down saying "He's not good enough."
I should stress that for me, this reaction is more of a lightbulb moment for me rather than an over reaction to one loss.
We've been in a bad run of form since November or longer and I've been talking about other managers getting more out of their squads but I thought Robinson was decent enough to persist with.
Today's match hit home that Charlton could and should expect more from a manager.
Second best in every department. You can see why Shrewsbury are doing so well, they were tough, hard working, well organised and won virtually every loose ball. We offered little, other than the first 10 minutes when JFC should have put us in front (what a difference that might have made) and most of our guys didn't fancy it. Play-Offs look a long shot on this showing but still a long way to go.
Shrewsbury worked out the tactics and completely bossed the midfield. He needs to go 4-4-2 and drop one of the 3 midfielders, but I guess he can't because he has bought so many midfielders and not strikers.
Considering 4-2-3-1 is supposedly the "purists" way, it lacked any entertainment value today.
After having three chances in the first 5 we didn't create another chance in the first half, but went off with game equal at halftime. However, where as our performance is littered with mistakes and misplaced passes, there's was pretty slick, with everything connected. But, the second half, we were absolutely dreadful, not a shot in the half other than a row z effort. They were streets ahead of us, and that's not just on today's performance, they are better than any game I have seen us play.
We were bloody abject, and how bad must Zyrios be, if he put Ajose on I front of him. Play offs are a pipe dream, if we got in them, could we beat any team in the top 10 over two games. NO BLOODY CHANCE.
Season, over write it off, sit back and wait for Roland and hopefully Robinson to be removed before next season.
As @bazjonster said, that was just like Wigan, bar the first 5 minutes today. Men against boys. A team and a club with purpose, and ambition, versus us. That's the season over, I think.
Watched part of the game on the stream (had a lot problems with it, mainly first half).
I don't want to keep sacking managers but I struggle to see KR ever getting the quality of player needed to win promotion playing his system.
He goes for smaller technical players which make sense given how he wants to play, but it's no surprise we're weak at set pieces both attacking and defensively.
It's surprising how rarely we win a penalty given the type of players we have.
We won't get the most out of Magennis playing him as a lone striker.
Solly's not as good as he was. I'm not convinced Kashi is this classy Championship quality player some suggest he is.
Like previous League 1 seasons we have a team we can look at and think on paper it looks good but I can't see this team scoring enough and being consistent enough.
In his five full League 1 seasons KR has one automatic promotion, two play-off defeats and two top half finishes. In the Championship they finished below us in the season Fraeye was one of three managers.
I'd love it to suddenly click with us playing exciting attacking football, scoring plenty of goals, the way KR talked about his team's playing. Sadly I can only see a KR team doing that if he gets real top quality players for this league. Any promotion side needs at least a few that you can be confident would comfortably step up to the Championship. His system needs a 20+ goal striker capable of playing on his own, a good alternative striker and a much better "number 10" than anyone we've had this season (including Clarke, who although good isn't a stand out player at this level).
Same old lack of goals, leaky defence. I don't see this team as capable of consistently grinding out narrow wins. As good as we can look on the ball we need to score more goals. I'm not convinced the system gives us our best chance of that.
At the end of the day the buck stops with KR. He simply isn’t getting the most out of the players at his disposal and that is why I think he should go now whilst we still have a shout at making the playoffs
Kiwi, I don't rate the manager either. His later record at MK showed he was a one trick pony and that guff, sycophancy and hyperbole can only get you so far. But how do we know that about the players? What are we actually basing that assumption on or measuring it against?
As I said earlier, I'm not convinced that the players are as good individually as what we actually think they are.
Hopefully I'm proved wrong next season because it isn't happening this year.
Reeves did well against MKD and gave us some shape and helped us keep the ball. Weird to drop him here, especially in favour of Marshall, who's chosen us signing him to go from tricky winger to dead weight
Pearce is a carthorse. Oh but he's English and experienced Big Jason Pearce Pearcey never let you down proper defender bodies on the line BLAH. He's a carthorse. Get well soon Patrick and Naby
Kaikai is a disgrace. Doesn't want to be here. Him and Marshall are nothing. Reeves should be given one of their starting roles and Fosu the other. Zyro up front with Magennis. Aribo probably ahead of JFC on form. Maybe Reeves in the middle and Aribo out wide? Just change it up ffs. GET WELL SOON STEPHY
Solly is shot. It's sad to see.
Kashi had a bad game but he's been good enough to hold onto his position I think.
If JDS is injured, who plays LB? Lennon? GET WELL SOON NABY
That all? Well, yeah, except to say that we need to play two up front for fuck's sake. We have the players.

Deserved what we got today - sweet F***All.

Tactically they absolutely schooled us. Weathered the storm and then played to their strengths. Well done to Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury controlled the game but that is still a pathetic stat

Humgover so I ifollow’d it , apart from the first ten we were 2nd by a long long way.
We are playing utter toilet yet are still involved in the play offs that is why this is a shit league .
28% 3rd-6th .......69% 7th-12th ........3% 13th-20th
100% Roland OUT
