Hi everyone Sorry for the delay in keeping you all updated. As you know les had nominated tj to the charity 52lives. Tj was accepted and the founder and I are in regular contact. Last I heard I believe they had raised over £1K. Tj has also been sent some lovely pictures from The Holy Trinity school. Also as you know Ray Bates got us on the radio and a charity came forward to pay for Tj new chair. We took delivery of this last week. We have also applied to charities for help towards his safe bed. One charity has kindly loaned us a safe bed for 6 mths whilst we continue to fundraise. On his gofundme page we have raised just over £3k now. I am still blown away by everyone's generosity so THANK YOU VERY MUCH. SPECIAL THANKS TO RAY AND LES XX
A huge thank you to everyone that got involved, you didn't have too but when I asked for advice on this forum. Not only did I get exactly that, but you came forward to help a young family with no connection to Charlton whatever with advice, donations and contacts. Charities have now supplied the chair TJ needed and we are on the way to getting him his new bed.
Hi folks as you know I'm in contact with Melissa and her lovely family so I thought I'd update you all. TJ is now being pushed around in his new wheels which were supplied by a company which contacted her via this forum. He also now sleeps in a loaned bed more suitable to a lad of his size and an electric hoist was fitted this week to help Melissa as TJ is a strapping lad. Melissa also came onto the radio with myself and this prompted a great response financially and practically and although the fundraising is still on going and Melissa sells items on Ebay and bags of sweets are sold via local shops and hairdressers. She was contacted by one charity as she also has two beautiful teenage daughters and given the opportunity to treat herself as well as Tia and Billi to a trip to the west end to see the Lion King. I'd been told something else was planned but not told what it was. She and her girls are currantly having a private tour of the theatre, meeting cast and crew after watching the show. When I asked for help and advice on the opening post little did I know nor expect such a fantastic response, thank you all. Melissa is still going to bring TJ to the Valley when the situation changes and no sooner it does I will get in touch with the club to organise tickets for her and the family to attend a home game to say thank you personally. Cheers Ray
Hi everyone Sorry for the delay in updating you all but I see Ray has been doing it for me. Thanks Ray. So as Ray has mentioned last week we went to see the lion king in London. It was a fantastic show. David the company manager greeted us at the beginning of the show and told the girls that we would meet some of the cast and have a tour. He also presented my daughter's with a signed programme. I have added a couple of pictures. We are still fundraising and to date we have just over £4k. Still a long way to go but we will get there. Our loan bed has been amazing and proved to me that I have definitely made the best choice of bed for Tj. We finally had his hoist fitted last week and his stair lift is being fitted this Thursday. I'm not going to lie this in its self has been a emotional rollercoaster. I know he needs these pieces of equipment but actually having them in our home makes it all real again! I'm slowing coming to terms with the hoist but as for the stair lift.....well I don't know yet! Once again I want to say a massive thank you to Ray who is AWESOME and a true gentleman. To les who nominates tj to the wonderful charity 52lives who have managed to raise £2k and obviously sent us to see the lion king. After many conversations with the charity they wanted to send me for a spa day but I turned it down because I didn't do any of this for myself and I am Tj mum and having him safe in bed is what this has been about. TRULY TRULY GRATEFUL TO EVERYONE XXX
Exciting news....Yesterday we took delivery of Tj new safe bed. As you are all aware Tj was unsafe in is previous bed after out growing his cotbed so we started looking at different beds and meeting different companies to find a bed that was suitable for him. Tj wakes up every single night and is literally bouncing off the walls so obviously we needed something to keep him safe and comfortable. I always say 'Tj likes to party hard at night' . How he stays awake all day I'll never understand but it seems he just doesnt need much sleep!
We started fundraising once we found the bed that suited his needs. I spent lots of time contacting charities and filling in endless forms which in its self was a emotional rollercoaster and anyone close to me knows I like to keep my head in the clouds but I am getting better but having to state of the things Tj cant do really upsets me. Newlife the Charity for Disabled Children lent us the exact bed we had found whilst we carried on fundraising so he stayed safe in bed. This proved to me that this was the perfect bed for him. @52lives charity accepted Tj nomination and very kindly raised a huge amount towards his bed and to them we are truly grateful and we have since donated to other candidates that 52lives have supported and we will continue to do so. I have previously named majority of my friends, family, local businesses and people we have met along the way who have helped raise this money and to them a huge THANK YOU AGAIN. With the money we raised ourselves, what Ray Bates raised and 52lives we were still short so Newlife put the rest of the money in so for now my Mr Tj is safe at night and as you can see I think he is happy. Love to you all and thanks again xxx
Ladies and Gentlemen, TJ has his safe bed along with his new wheels, his loaned bed has been returned and this one is his own. Well done to everyone that got involved with this, proving that once again this is more than just a football forum. Credit to Mel also who never once sat back and accepted the situation she worked tirelessly to help raise funds, selling sweets etc. I was guilty of buying a tenners worth which Mel delivered to my home 😉. I’ll raise a glass to all the bloody heroes on this forum when I get home later. Ray
