Bowyer class in interview give him job. Shrewsbury deserved it defended brilliantly. Thought referee in first leg was excellent. Then this referee total opposite not brave enough to make a game changing decision looking straight at elbow and ignored it. Carlton Morris must have made 5 infringements to laws of the game and a red card offence and wasn’t cautioned and hasn’t even got a yellow card for persistent foul play. How he hAs not cautioned any Shrewsbury players in first half must have been 5 late foul tackles in forst half. But no cautions said to lad before corner come in that ref would give defensive free kick on corner in second half after keeper flapped at corner before and he didn’t let me down. Anyway move on let’s get Roland out least he ain’t getting extra 5 million now.
That was sh*t. After I thought they were tough but fair at The Valley, Shrewsbury today were dirty and aided by a useless waste of space of a ref. Their goal scorer should have seen red (at least yellow) and I wouldn't be unhappy with a retrospective ban for him elbowing Bauer. Oh, I forgot, that never happens. Didn't help that we could not create enough chances. Subs were mad - Kaikai, really? And Sarr for Dijksteel, unless the latter was injured, makes no sense. What happened to Marshall? As for Salop - bunch of dirty cloggers - a well-organised version of Oldham or Bury. Hope they lose at Wembley to Scunny or Rotherham.
So very disappointing. Ultimately, we have to accept that we were just not good enough. We hardly threatened their goal all game and never looked like scoring the single goal we needed to take them to extra-time and perhaps penalties. One major difference was in the mobility and movement off the ball. There were times when it seemed we had statues in defence, so easily did their attackers run into space behind our defenders.
Amos made a wonder save to prevent them scoring again near the end. I was sorry for him that their goal looked save-able as it was so close to him. The fact that their striker hit it first time and low just did Amos.
I felt the team selection wasn’t right. Konsa is a very good young centre back that fills in admirably at right back, but he’s no central midfielder. He was there to do a marking job on Nolan, which he did ok, but although his defensive qualities are useful, his lack of mobility is a problem - it was him that didn’t run with their striker for their first goal. And he adds absolutely nothing going forward. And why was Marshall left out of the squad completely? When Kaikai, who has done precisely bugger all in a Charlton shirt, gets a place. It’s perplexing.
Things might have been different had the appalling ref seen and punished the nasty elbow on Bauer in the first half, and given the stonewall penalty not long afterwards. Going a goal ahead might have given us a platform to build on but we always struggle when going behind and especially so against a strong defence like Shrewsbury’s.
Credit to Lee Bowyer for galvanising the squad he inherited from Robinson to get us into the play-offs, when we looked for all the world like settling into mid-table obscurity. But there’s no denying that we are a much inferior side to Wigan, Blackburn and even Shrewsbury. Getting promotion would have been wonderful but I don’t think even the most rose-tinted, diehard Addick would claim we deserved it.
So, take comfort from the likelihood that the takeover will now proceed more swiftly. For me and I think many others, nothing is more important than getting Duchatelet out of our club. And let’s hope that the new owners are in place soon, with the right manager (whether or not that is Lee Bowyer), to build a team that can legitimately challenge for a deserved, hopefully automatic, promotion next season.
Had to work today. Had it on via Sky Go, but switched off as soon as they scored. I should be pissed off and depressed. I feel strangely non-plussed. My enthusiasm wasn't what it should have been on Thursday either. I was more angry about the piss poor crowd TBH.

Just fuck off out of our club you stupid old bastard.
Trying to play like Barca ain’t going to get you out of this league need to go out kicking throwing elbows and whatever it takes as the ref will let you get away with it
Played well in spells but the ref was pretty awful. Stand out player was Aribo and shithouse player was JFC. Fans outstanding again. Shame it got A bit messy outside by the Wild Pig but there were a few on both sides itching to get at each other. Personally wanted to twat a skinny young Shrew who picked up and threw a glass.... if you want to fight do it man to man.
No chance of signing Amos who is reputedly on 20k per week. He is excellent though. Probably all the loanees will leave. Da Silva has been fun to watch but Page will be a good replacement if he can avoid injury. I hope the new manager, be it Bowyer or whoever, will be able to dictate tactics to fit the players range of skills. We didn't have the appropriate players to fit Robinson's flamboyant game plan, although tbf it worked at times. Bowyer did well with Robbo's players by playing two up front. I remember in SCP's promotion team how we dug in to win games when sometimes we were outplayed. Curbs was brilliant at finding a way to win, with his teams usually grafting like mad to get results. Shrewsbury are a solid team, hard to beat. They are probably the model of how to get out of this league next year. Sadly, tippy tappy football will not do it in Division one.
We did a lot of huffing and puffing and rather limp wristed in the final third with no sight of the onion bag. You could see the difference between the two teams purely on confidence and team shape. They were use to winning and we were not. I must admit that I wasn’t disappointed about the result as I’m more interested in an imminent announcement of the takeover. We can wipe the slate clean or adapt a pol pot calendar of year (season) 1 starts August 2018. Only nagging doubt is if there are any Duchelet remnants left in the club post sale. If there are I’m afraid it’s back to the protest. This disease has to be completely removed. In the meantime, the new owner has my total backing. Onwards and upwards!
The 15 minutes after half time was one of the most clueless half hearted shite I’ve seen from a pro football team. It was like they just jacked it in. Shrewsbury were poor and we were worse. Dog shit.
It was the complete and utter opposite to what I expected. Honestly thought we were in 2nd gear saving a bit for the 2nd half when we would steam into them. How wrong could I be, they were dreadful today apart from the 15 min spell where we rolled over and allowed them to dominate.
Poor attitude from a lot of them.
I won't mention mavididi again and hope I never have to in the future.
Wasn’t meant to be. Can’t argue with the result over two legs. Didn’t deserve anything. I’m grateful to Lee Bowyer for getting us into a position to challenge and I hope he’s given a chance under the new regime. Just want this takeover done and dusted so that we can move on. Charlton ‘til I die and all that ...
Bowyer deserves a lot of credit for getting us in the play offs and turning us into a team that’s hard to beat. Losing Clarke, Fosu and Pearce midway through the season didn’t help. RD’s experiment has been an abject failure and to see him win something towards the end of his ownership would have given him some undeserved credit.
We should have taken our game to them instead of trying match them although I’m not really sure we have a game. Injuries and a thin squad hit us badly too, but with holmes gone and no one else really chipping in, we just don’t have (the service or) the goals in us
Bournemouth, Burnley, Rochdale, Shrewsbury. Fed up of watching other teams celebrating.
Not good enough over two games and despite the recent improvement not good enough over the whole season.
Would have said good luck Shrewsbury but after hearing from fans there about the pepper spray etc fuck them. Hope they stay down and we nick their better players.
The takeover better come soon to everyone a much needed lift and some even more needed certainty.
No excuses. And none needed really everyone gave it everything but it wasn't to be. I wouldn't say they they were a better footballing side than us but their game plan worked and they out muscled us. We didn't get the luck and the ref was atrocious but we still failed to do enough.
Players left everything out there can't fault any of them. Need changes and a full squad for next year. Including some different types of players. Robbo left us with loads of the same players. We need options to pick to suit different games whether that be a couple of more physical enforcers in midfield or a creative passer. We need a full squad.
Boys against men. Powder puff. Clear them all out in the summer and get some men in.
Hope Shrewsbury get hammered in the final the dirty ****s.
Fuck off you sour old Belgian nause, judas Murray and anyone who has siddled up to the clusterfuck of the last 4 years.
Let's draw a line under the complete shambles Charlton have been for his reign and start again with some football ambition and some players with an ounce of bollocks next season.
To not score in 180 mins hurts. Stone Wall pen decision might of changed the game. Defeat is hard to take. Please build for next season if not we are completely lost is this dive of a division...

Been boycotting so didnt realise how poor the division is. Shrewsbury 3rd!
Still much to get excited by over the coming weeks I hope.
Let’s get the takeover done this week and hear what the new owners have got to say.

Whimper of a season. Joyless
New owners, new players, new atmosphere, new attitude.
Think the players tried but seemed afraid to get it wrong over both games.
