When did this silly tapping it across the 18 yard box for 20 minutes without putting a cross in become a thing? Spain, France and now Germany doing it.
The ranking of each team in each group stage is determined as follows:
1. Points obtained in all group matches; 2. Goal difference in all group matches; 3. Number of goals scored in all group matches; 4. Points obtained in the matches played between the teams in question; 5. Goal difference in the matches played between the teams in question; 6. Number of goals scored in the matches played between the teams in question; 7. Fair play points in all group matches (only one of these deductions shall be applied to a player in a single match): 8. Drawing of lots by FIFA
Germany would go through ahead of Sweden by the fourth tie breaker.
Wonder when the lots would take place (i.e. thinking more for England v Belgium if we got the sole booking in a draw) - Would they do it there and then at the end of the game or the following day for example
Who goes through out of Germany and Sweden if both games end 0-0?
Sweden because of Germany's red card.
No wait it would be Germany because they beat Sweden....
thought I heard head to head games don't count
They do count, after points, goal difference and goals scored but before fair play record.
not according to this:
1. Greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned 2. Goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned 3. Greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned Failing that... 4. Greater number of points obtained in the fair play conduct of the teams based on yellow and red cards received in all group matches (read the full explanation here) And finally... 5. Drawing of lots by the Fifa organising committee
Before the matches started the Official World Cup website had Germany ahead of Sweden in the table so if both games are 0-0 Germany would finish ahead of Sweden
The ranking of each team in the same group is determined on a two-step approach:
First step: Pursuant to the criteria listed in art. 32 (5) lit. a) to c) of the Competition Regulations.
- greatest number of points obtained in all group matches; - goal difference in all group matches; - greatest number of goals scored in all group matches.
Second step: If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the first step (see example in Table 1), their ranking will be determined by applying to the group matches between the teams concerned the criteria listed in art. 32 (5) lit. d) to h) in the order of their listing.
- greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned; - goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned; - greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned; - greater number of points obtained in the fair play conduct of the teams based on yellow and red cards received in all group matches; - drawing of lots by the FIFA.
