79% possession for Spain, but what's the point if you do nothing with it, and just keep the ball for the sake of it?

Or replacing Costa with Aspas instead of withdrawing a defensive player?

Croatia strong favourites to reach a World cup final from the weak side of the draw.
But can they take the pressure.

England have achived nothing yet, they have got out of one of the weakest groups.
Can we break a habit and win a KO game.
    Tuesday will answer that question

All the optimism of fans mean very little.

Both England and Croatia are 5/2 not exactly strong favourties
5/2 to win three matches? Pretty strong odds to me!
Yes but the comment was strong favourites when another country are the exact same price.

So not string favourites at at all.

If they were 5/2 and we were 6/1 then u could say that.

They are joint favourites not strong favourites

You're not confusing him with Jools Holland?

Leicester won the Prem with 32% possession. As said above the most pointless stat in football.

Pity it wasn't Ramos that missed a penalty.

On school trip with my Spanish students at the moment and to say they are gutted would be a massive understatement. Have greatly enjoyed it! Definitely something dodgy going on with Russia though

wonder why ITV have spent so much more time on this penalty call than BBC did. It wasn't a penalty, don't think it was particularly a close decision either.

Angle with Ramos shown on ITV showed he wasn't fouled. I think there is something poetic about this very gifted, but also pathetic cheat of a footballer to pass up the great chance of a header on goal to nick a penalty!

Everyone talking about Ramos, but Pique was fouled

Only thing I'd question is it would be too obvious and too easy to catch them if they've been jabbed there

Surely on the thigh or arse (where the mark cant be seen) would be smarter

Yes, I think he had a better case, but I bet the VAR looked at Ramos! Even more poetic.

I don't understand how they can have the levels of fitness they seemed to have over 120 minutes today - one of their defenders is nearly 39 FFS. 146KM covered over 120 minutes. These are not world class players playing for the top teams in the world either.

If their fitness training doesn't involve chemicals and is purely above board then premiership/champions league teams should be snapping up these Russian fitness coaches after the tournament, they are clearly doing something special that could change the sport.

As I said I think the proof was when Golovin on the pitch for 117 minutes overtook and beat Rodrigo to the ball who had been on the pitch for 13 minutes

well I watched iran/morocco - they have players playing in similar leagues at a similar level to russia, they were all knackered on 60 minutes - yet after 120 minutes the Russian players looked fine in comparison to them in my eyes.

Everyone seemed sure Croatia were gonna win this game.

What we can say is the route to the final is opening up for England in a once in a lifetime way. Whether they take advantage of it is another matter, but it is quite possible they will be favourites in all of the games they play until the final depending on the Croatia v Denmark result! That is reasonable for Germany and Brazil but unthinkable for England!

I wonder if Belgium are still celebrating their victory over us :)
