(obviously Southgate and the team won't take Colombia lightly, because as is becoming clearer by the year, the players are usually more with-it than the media or the fans)
Thank you. While I support England, I think we've been setting ourselves up for a fall from the moment the Belgium game ended
Would you not rather be in the position we are now though? Don't believe that we've set ourselves up for a fall at all. No one is taking a win against Colombia as a given.

Oh, I'd rather be in this position! I just mean the endless stream of bollocks from the media, mostly
Belgium are going to be much, much better than in the last Euros, no guarantee either France or Brazil will beat them. Once they swat Japan aside without fuss, that is
What we can say is the route to the final is opening up for England in a once in a lifetime way. Whether they take advantage of it is another matter, but it is quite possible they will be favourites in all of the games they play until the final depending on the Croatia v Denmark result! That is reasonable for Germany and Brazil but unthinkable for England!
I wonder if Belgium are still celebrating their victory over us
Celebrating ? I still have to get my kimono ironed ...
I think they are a protected species? Either way, very cruel.

From what I have seen of them, I do find it hard to see them beating us unless we are totally off our game. I have a feeling the last QFs will be Belgium v Brazil and Switzerland v England

Dont wanna call between Sweden and Switzerland - Reckon that one will be even tighter than tonights game
I think there is a fag paper between the teams in our half. It is a really lopsided draw. Two good games yesterday in the top half and two poor ones today.
I could see England collapsing against Russia, if they each get that far. I do not want Russia in the final under any circumstances. I may not be a fan of Messi. And I hate Ronaldo. But I hate Putin more than any player and don't want him to get any glory via his team and this WC.

Depends if we can afford to pay the referees more.

Just seen it floating around twitter that Guardiola won the Spanish title in 2010, then Spain won the World Cup the same summer. In 2014 the same, with Bayern and Germany.
Absolutely devastated. Once in a lifetime chance to make it to the semis (given Russia was next). Losing after 90 mins, I can sort of cope with. Not losing like this though.

My condolences. ALL the teams on this side of the draw will be feeling the tension now, as it's such a great opportunity to make the final, never mind the QF or SF.
So we have established that in 1966 and 2018 Real Madrid won the Champions League Man City won their league Burnley got into europe England scored over 4 goals in a world cup game Russia won their opening 2 games.
What people are missing is that in 1966 Andy Murray didnt play at Wimbledon either
If Rodrigues does start against England, I suspect he won't be 100% and ripe for a few heavy challenges.
To go deep into a competition, you need nous. Remember the treatment Rooney got when they suspected he had a weakness when he got red carded against Portugal. Some full blooded challenges on James Rodriguez in first 15 minutes by different players. Southgate engineered us into the weaker half of the draw. We need the extra % out of the Colombian game. The worry for me is Kane will take punishment as well because the stakes are high now and winners take all.
My fear is that Kane gets injured, and if i were the oppo I'd be targetting him. Not just because he's our main threat but the psychological impact would be severe on the rest of the side. If he stays fit, I think we could do well, though I still think winning is a step too far. Anything better than the quarters will be a huge success given expectations prior to the tournament.
Have to say I have watched every angle of that Pavard's goal since the game and I don't think I have seen such beautiful technique in a strike my whole life.
Yeah, @ForeverAddickted probably can't justify the Nacho goal at all now - as this was the same but much more stylish. Unless he wants to justify it of course

France v Brazil
Russia v England or Colombia
Final between those in bold
Got a feeling that Russia will get themselves past Croatia like South Korea did in 2002
Either way, very cruel.
Russia Croatia to me is 50/50, neither looked entirely convincing today
In 2018, he's won the English title...

It was intentional and perfection.
