Just read this, assuming ref thought he had a chance of getting the ball

However, the law has now changed so that players committing accidental fouls, that deny a goal-scoring opportunity, are not automatically sent off, but cautioned instead.

Players will still be sent off for holding, pulling or pushing, not playing the ball or having no possibility to play the ball, serious foul play, violent conduct or deliberate handball.

Schmeichel to save one. Denmark to miss two.

    Shows modern day Footballers though

That bloke could easily have gone on to score had he attempted to stay on his feet... Instead he didnt and went for what he thought was the safe option of a penalty!!

Is the keeper allowed off his line nowadays? They didn't used to be. Have I missed a rule change? If not, I'm surprised no mention of Kasper moving toward the ball.

"Taking one for the team" to a whole new level.

Simply not fair on Croatia to have an open goal and just get a penalty for it.

Didn't really give a toss tbh but it does make a bit of a mockery

Nope they're not allowed but referees are too useless to penalise for it

Irish U17 (?) Keeper got a second yellow card and sent off for doing it against Holland earlier this year despite the Dutch Goalkeeper doing the same thing in the shootout

This reminds me of Ghana v Uruguay. Ghana missed the penalty after Suarez handled on the line and then lost the shoot out.

Nope. And every penalty this tournament I've noticed. The ref make a point of telling the keeper the lino is watching too. Never do anything though.

No attempt to get the ball. I don't care about what the laws say and don't want to be lectured by someone who types shit into Google and comes up with several things off a mildly cretinous forum and speaks like Moses on Mount Sinai.

That wasn't rightx for me, if Croatia go out here it would be up there with Maradona in terms of injustice to a nation.

Didnt Schevchenko do the same for AC Milan in that Istanbul Champions League Final against Liverpool?

Seem to remember him missing a penalty in Extra Time and then missed the decisive one in the shootout

I am guessing that any shot on target at least 5 foot off ground will be a goal in this shoot out. Of all shots on target that are low to either side of the goal keeper at least 20% will be saved.

    Edit. 70%

He could have shot earlier, as soon as he was past Kasper but tried to take it closer and allowed the foul

It was cheating plain and simple. Everyone knew what the defender was going to do in that situation and it wasn't win the ball.

    Hope Denmark go out now.

so Schmiechael bounds off his line which you aren't allowed to do, but moans because of a staggered run up....

Wow think we have found 2 nations worse at penalties than us...
