  • Should have added at least 2 minutes to the clock for France time wasting.
  • Could see Mbeppe and Pogba ripping an extra one for us.....
  • Good. Now fuck off Duchatelet.
  • Let’s see what happens tomorrow but there are no two ways about it - France will be big big favourites against us. Mbappé, Griezmann, Pogba, Kante...... they have a lot.

Finals a one off game though so you would have to hope our lot could raise their game one last time.

Croatia first though - and that’s tough enough!
  • Games have been so magnificent that this one seemed a bit poor by comparison.
  • England beats Croatia.
England beats France and wins World Cup.
    Southgate gets top managerial position.
Southgate gets sacked within 30 matches.
  • It's coming home.
    Start believing.

England have played France at the World Cup twice...

    Won 2-0 and 5-2

We beat them 3-1 in 82.

If we do it tomorrow.... France it is then.

Mother in law is French - she isn't watching it with me- she can do one !

Last time I watched a game with her was a 2-1 defeat. Great game. My son @Addickted2TheReds was about 8 and hated her for about a week!

He may not remember or has got over it.

    I haven't !!!

I don't know, maybe England teams of yesteryear, but I've personally got so much more confidence in this team and management to do their homework and hopefully back it up.

IF we be get past Croatia, I think it's deffo game on in the the final
  • Giroud had a game, Lukaku wasn't present ...
  • don't think we can afford extra time tomorrow now, not with france getting an extra days rest as well.
  • The only team we should be thinking about is Croatia. That is now a 50/50 game between two unlikely semi finalists.
France were very strong tonight and can play defensive or go for the jugular. They didn't hit top gear tonight but did enough.
  • Disciplined performance by the French, especially after they went ahead. I fancied the Belgians to win beforehand and they certainly had enough of the ball, but I thought they were disappointing overall. The French will be clear favourites to win it all now, but if we get through we can beat them. Come on England!
  • Meanwhile for Belgium's golden generation potentially that was the last chance for a few of them to win the big one (although they will still have the next euros) - Kompany who will be 36 next world cup, Vertonghen will be 35, Witsel will be 33, Fellaini will be 34, Dembele will be 34, Vermaelen will be 36, Mertens 35, Alderweireld 33.

  • France looked really solid and effective, but not a team you'd fear either.

To I think tomorrow we're 55/45 favourites, whereas against France it would be 45/55

    I hope so.

Will you be popping down the bar for the game con les garcons from la ville?

I fancied the French to win but it was a tight game. They deserved it though and I would definitely have preferred Belgium in the Final but never mind. What disapointed me about Belgium was they took too long to start taking risks, they were building slowly from the back - but it was mostly just extra passes and they needed another front man or attacking midfielder on with 20 mins to go. When a move builds and a cross goes in, I would want as many red shirts in the box as French ones at the very least!

Southgate has seen how France will play if they take the lead against us, which could be useful. Let's beat Croatia first but France are going to be tough but beatable. They are definitely strong favourites.

  • De Bruyne was too deep to me, you wanted someone else in midfield so that De Bruyne could do his stuff further up the pitch

Taking Fellaini off for the last 15 was odd too, especially as he looked more likely to score than Lukaku!
  • Was odd as no matter how he was playing, he can give you a goal. Agree, De Bruyne should have been pushed up - what did they have to lose?
  • They seemed more worried in the last 15 minutes that they may concede another on the break rather than trying to push up and throw a bit of caution to the wind- France did defend well but they were still knocking it across the back to each other even in minute 88 - i'm surprised they didn't try and go a bit more direct towards the end.
  • Agree about De Bruyne but I thought it was a really good game, lot of good chances and a lot of quality on show. Decent defences and surprised Belgium couldn’t get more past an excellent French defence.

Totally agree. I call it the extra pass. It is ok when you build slowly, but if you are desperate you don't need it - the ball can be carried forward just as effectively with one man less. And that allows you to push players up. Yes it is risky defensively, especially with the players France have, but if you are behind with 20 mins to go you surely have to take risks.

This was not meant to be a game with many goals . However, I saw our 7ft striker miss a couple of headers and duels . I'm pleased however, it didn't end in the last second - David Platt style . That did hurt a lot :(

    Best of luck tomorrow ...
  • Feel sorry for semi final losers.

Right now the Belgium players probably just want to leave Russia, go home and try and forget, but instead they now have to stick around to play a pointless 3rd place play off match.

Thanks. Belgium can be proud of their achievements. I do think they would have made the final had they not beaten us in the final group game. Is that the view in Belgium out of interest.

Not really . It isn't mentioned . Comments are focused on a couple of players who didn't perform 110 % . We missed Thomas Meunier on the flank and the referee better picks another country to spend his next holiday ;)

Well, they have missed the point then. Belgium were set up to gain a much easier route. In a game of small margins, that is what it is all about. Wales got to the semis of the Euros two years ago as their side of the draw completely opened up. Belgium would have absolutely walked it into the final had they finished second in the group. When you play Brazil, then France your chances of being knocked out are much greater than when you play Sweden and Croatia. There is no way Belgium wouldn't have beaten Croatia!
