Sadly, our survival (or not) will have more to do with shady meetings played out on Zoom and Skype than football matches played on the pitch. The reason is that it would be obvious in normal circumstances what is going on. Also, should the player get an injury, there is a significant period before the new season commences. There are unknowns here and excuses that can be applied because of the virus and clubs are happy to stitch each other up. Football operates separately from normal life, it's not like a normal job where in your last few weeks you hand over your responsibilities, tidy your desk and go for long lunch breaks, as the last game in your contract is potentially just as important as your 1st or 34th. Clubs aren't stupid, if we were relegated with 2 games to go, I'm sure Bowyer would be happy to leave Taylor out.
The integrity of the league season relies on it, and it's this structure which generates massive public interest and makes lots of players very rich. If the FA AND PFA had any sense of morals, they would instruct its members to play the full season, and for clubs to extend all contracts until the season is ended. These are extraordinary times, and everyone has to show solidarity to the wider game.
But this goes on in football all the time. Clubs are always telling young players they can't play for their schools or clubs anymore. It is the culture of clubs and ridiculous to think is these strange times with the season extended into the summer that this isn't what is happening here.
I understand a few things in relation to Taylor.
a) He was great for us whilst he was with us and gave everything
b) He is not loyal to us or anybody else and we are not his club. That suits us when he is leaving Wimbledon on a free and not when he leaves us.
c) He does have mitigation that he has been messed about and used a bit as a pawn in our ongoing saga.
d) He does have mitigation that it is normal for players to put themselves first and at the stage of his career he has at, maybe an even bigger factor.
e) Is he being disloyal. Yes, I think he is, but I suspect he thinks he has given us more than most and may disagree. He is a player, there are very few of them that really put the club high on their list of priorities. It is one of the reasons I dislike players kissing the badge. Mind you, I have never seen Taylor do that.
Ultimately, we are in credit with him and his legacy will be a decent player for us rather than a legend. I'll clap him if and when he returns but I do think he is disloyal. It is just he can join a club with a massive membership in that regards. It stains football as we have passion and loyalty for our club and hardly anybody else in the game does. But I won't single out Taylor in relation to that.3 -

No. If a national team is in the final stages of an international tournament they have an obligation to compensate the club. Otherwise the doctors attached to the national team have an obligation to submit the results of their own examinations to assist the club in treating the injury but they don't have to pay any compensation to the club. its not necessarily the salary, he will get a 500/750k signing on fee - i get why he is doing it, its completely wrong but it makes sense but its a risk for him efl ruling states he cannot play for the new club until the new season starts - worst case 3 weeks from now we get a huge surge in cases and lockdown starts again - he is looking at a few months without wages, plus no dates even set for the new season.
apologies to digress but i cant keep up what players are out of contract come end of june, will we offer them all extensions until end of season ( end of July ) and hope they sign, i suppose if they don't they will have no wages for the foreseeable.

Once the dust has settled he will be forgotten and certainly won’t be on the list of Addicks legends wheeled out onto the pitch in years to come.So so many players in the last 20 years let’s say will be held in higher esteem.He even ruined my sons all key players (except Bauer, need to get to Preston) signed shirt by signing it upside down. If Taylor still had 2 years left on his contract he'd probably cost 4-5m, so a club paying him 750k instead of a 4m transfer fee is nothing.2 -
