Interesting twist if true, one to many sleepless nights Lyle. Big boost to the team if he is up for it and some point to prove for his behaviour0
-
My heart says it’s too late for Lyle to make a u-turn and he should do one now. My head knows that he’s out best player and our chances of survival are increased if he plays (even for three matches) and puts a shift in.2
-
If true it'll be interesting to learn who made him have a change of heart if that's what happened. My best guess is that it was a combined effort from Bowyer and Jacko and on that basis Taylor's head ought to be in the right place. Fingers crossed and we shall see.

He hasn’t trained, he won’t be fit, and he won’t do anything to risk injury.
Taylor in his first contact session in training will be a waste of time....
17 -
Do people seriously believe he’s ‘gonna put a shift in’ and potentially scupper his next move
this is all about damage limitation for his image etc.
tell him thanks but no thanks, Bonne is desperate to play clearly - imagine how he’s gonna feel if he’s benched for Taylor
Bonne is gonna be here next season...17 -
Bows will use Taylor off the bench if he’s available for 3 games, won’t want to risk the much needed squad unity.7
-
I'll go with whatever team Bowyer decides on. If Taylor starts v Hull fair enough, if not and he comes on late and nicks a goal that'll do for me also. If he warms the bench all game no issues either.

Nothing to do,with the fact that the club have told him he is in breach of contract as he Chalton player until the 30th June, therefore no wages this month,Oh hang on I.will sit around and come in until the 30th. Hope Pearce gives him a tackle in training for him mates and fans

Taylor has made his decision. This wouldn't have been an overnight one either. Bowyer needs to use it to his advantage, thank the players for being so committed to the cause and ask them to give 110% to make up for those who have chosen not to battle for our survival.0 - Sponsored links:

If Taylor’s only playing until the 30th it’s only so he gets his pay cheque and he doesn’t ruin his ‘image’. His heart won’t be in it, and the players will know that. I’d rather have no Taylor than a Taylor who’s only giving 50% and ruining the team morale12

There's a lot of raw feelings in this thread but if he plays until the 30th then I'm delighted. I reckon Taylor is worth 2-3 goal in the three games he would play. If he helps us beat Hull, QPR and Cardiff (three wins in a row? Never) then it'll be absolutely worth it. If he scores even a single goal for us though it will be a goal that goes towards us not getting relegated. He's our best player. To be honest, despite what he says I don't think Lyle knows how to play half speed. A defender will say something to him ten minutes in and he'll spend the rest of the game throwing himself about just to get one up on the bloke.I think if we get Lyle we'll get a Lyle who wants to score, and I'll take that19
-
I hope Lyle doesn’t play. Poor fella, he’s had so many sleepless nights, he’s going to be knackered27

Matt southall probably told the sun that random unnecessary fib.
He doesn't have a life.
He quite clearly absolutely hates Charlton and pretty much has done since day one.
The deadline day table of loads of snacks was him basically attempting to laugh AT us.
What did charlton actually ever do to him?0 -
Bowyer wont pick him, or keep him on the pitch if he's not committed, If Taylor is up for it, and Bowyer thinks he will add to the team then he will pick him.I would imagine Bowyer would be able to spot a player not putting a shift in, and may have a few quiet gentle motivating words. Let Bowyer decide what his strongest team, all else is irrelevant at this time.2
-
I just don't understand this theory that he is going to be worth 2-3 goals. I've already said that even if it is only a sub conscious thing he will not be committed because he doesn't want to ruin the chances of his "dream move".
Let me put it another way. If you are the opposition manager and you know that Taylor has this at the back of his mind are you going to tell your players to take it easy on him. Or are you going to instruct them to take it in turns to kick lumps out of him? At the very least he will be wound up and potentially sent off. At the worst he will be injured and will miss that move. And he knows that now that he and the club have gone public on this.
It is shocking that he has chosen not to honour his contract. But making him play now really isn't going to improve the situation. And Taylor not putting it in where we have a situation of having no supporters there backing the team will just be counter productive.3 -
Not sure what to make of this? He'll probably pick up and injury or maybe that should be an 'injury'. I hipe he does play and males a difference0

Assuming Taylor isn't going to return for the whole of the rest of the season we will still be in a position where we have to find someone to play instead of him and potentially a different way of playing. That person who replaces him will not, by virtue of the lack of match practice, be as match fit and sharp as he will. Equally, Taylor hasn't even been training.
One final thought. How does Bowyer set the team up for Hull this week when he doesn't know whether Taylor is going to play or not?2 -
Lyle Taylor is a 30 year old Professional footballer with a chance of earning 400% more from July 1st.
I felt/ feel he should honour his contract until it expires on 30/6/20.
On The 1st July, Lyle Taylor should take the opportunity of Quadrupling his wages for a couple of years as unfortunately CAFC have turned into a 24/7 basket case.
Peter Varney as a Course and Distance winner as a CEO when we were the model of how to run a Professional Football club is our best chance of getting some credibility back if some money (young Barclay) can join him in the venture of Charlton not being the laughing stock of the Football League.
Good luck Lyle Taylor and cheers.
I'm gutted that CAFC were in such a mess that we couldn't offer him a championship wage which was commensurate with being a top goal scorer, striker, wide man and character in the last two years.
Red Henry was spot on with the Late night call from Duchatelet to Bowyer when we thought Lee had walked so will be an interesting development.
Don't believe it will affect the other players as to a man they would do the same thing if an offer came up when their contract is about to end.
So many fans still can't see the difference between professional footballers who have normally 15 years at most to ply their trade and themselves as supporters. It's a polar opposite world.
We now invest our emotions in the players picked by Lee Bowyer. COYR.

I would take Lyle for 3 games on the basis of always use the best tools available to you at the time. If and it’s a big if we get 6 points it’s a major push towards safety.0
-
No brainer. If he says he will play and he’s fit he’s in. He doesn’t do half measures and if he scores goals and we stay up, he will be seen as a hero which he will love and have in mind.0

Well will he or won’t he ? Personally I couldn’t care less. It’s obvious he doesn’t.0
-
so he's not going to play? this has become a farce.
maybe its best if you just left Taylor.0 -
Who do we believe Jim White or Alan Nixon? What choice.1
