I'm more worried about my growing apathy with it all
I expected a loss but the players did try hard. Just lacking in quality and severely lacking in depth. Think LB made his point quite clear when he didn't make any tactical subs.
Did better than I expected nearly holding out for a point.
The game was lost on player availability when we needed fresh legs in the middle we had no options, none at all - can’t fault Bowyer today.
Good effort from the players to no avail. Lapslie May grow but not up to this division, we’re an injury (or a player sale) away from a very very tough season.
Ward, Dawkins & Ince.............should have been signed up this week & in the squad today. If LB isn't allowed to sign them then just say so & stop pissing them about.
I'll keep saying it - LB is an appeaser. If you can't be a manager under these circumstances then say so. Stop dicking about with "it is what it is".

Ince is injured. Ward couldn't changed anything. @LouisMend is going to write up the comments from Bowyer on Dawkins - maybe Roland simply hasn't allowed the deal to be done.
Said this on the match thread that we just need to try and get through the first 6-7 weeks until players come back.
Not looking great though, JFC out for the season 48 hours before the first game, Solly patched up, Pearce taken off injured. No midfield cover, no centre back cover if Pearce is out and Sarr has to play, and Ajose is obviously off as well.
Can't fault the team but slight criticism of Bowyer that he didn't make a change in the last 10 minutes. Taylor looked dead on his feet so i don't see why he couldn't have brought Ajose or RFH on. If you can't play Ajose because he's about to be sold then what's he doing on the bench?
Gutted at the last minute defeat but wasn't surprised as you pretty much expect it with this club. Were lucky to still be level anyway after Sinclair somehow missed a sitter from 4 yards. No idea what the game plan was second half but Taylor and Grant were anonymous after running them ragged in the first half.
Didn't have the options on the bench to change things. Just because Sunderland start a 16 year old doesn't mean our 18/19 year olds are better or ready or the right type of player to change the game.
And Golfaddick makes a really good point about Taylor and Pratley. Taylor, in particular, was clearly exhausted that last 20 mins. What's the point of having Ajose and H-F on the bench and not using them in such circumstances.
Because Ajose doesn't hold the ball up or defend set pieces.
And as it stands, Reeco is too lightweight to do Taylor's job effectively.
Didn’t watch it (first time I’ve not watched a televised game since I’ve supported Charlton) - better result than I anticipated....this Cnut has broken me. - it’s got to the point that I can’t muster any enthusiasm until he goes.
For me, the jury is still out as to how good a manager Bowyer will be. But, following on from the two play off games today's game is confirmation that he is utterly clueless when it comes to making effective substitutions.
Terrific performance. The players diidn’t ‘try hard’ but played well and very, very, very unlucky over the 90. Comments should be in this game only? We were good /- Grade A. The future is slightly different with squad numbers etc....
Bowyer is instilling an excellent team spirit. Excellent start first half and Charlton really should have been up by 2 clear goals. If you don't take your chances in football then you are likely to lose. Charlton paid for that today. Shame Lapslie didn't take a touch and leather his shot and Pratley played in Lyle Taylor instead of shooting. Sunderland had 5 debuts and looked like a team that had not played much together. Lyle Taylor looked very lively and took his penalty well. He linked up promisingly with Ahearne Grant and that could be a good pairing.
Totally typical that Charlton conceded from B**$$r%d Gooch, who took out Pearce, and the injury created 6 minutes of extra time from which he scored. I will always remember that name. I hope Pearce is ok.
Page got clattered and I didn't think he was going to get up. Maybe that contributed to a not so great performance. He was targeted by Sunderland and culpable for not picking up his man for the second Sunderland goal. Every injury a potential disaster.
Team really needed freshening up second half with Pratley and Taylor not that fit. The team just ran out of steam and the midfield stopped closing down, allowing a freshened up Sunderland to push forward. What could Lee Bowyer do ? 5 subs is a disgrace. This defeat is completely down to Roland Duchatelet bleeding the squad dry.
Premiership / Championship loans may be the only thing between Charlton and a very difficult season. As it stands, there is not the depth in the squad to get to Christmas. God help Charlton if Duchatelet is still in charge of the January transfer window.

For once, we are just going to have to disagree.
Taylor was out on his feet for the last 20 minutes. He was a passenger. No criticism of the guy, he's done brilliant to get through 70 minutes.
I agree with you about Ajose but surely both him, and H-F, if nothing else could run around and make a nuisance of themselves? If they did nothing else, it would have been more than Taylor did in the last 20 minutes.
Leaving an exhausted player on, no matter how bad his possible replacements, is crazy.
We run out of legs, simple as that, agree with since i was young, tackle on Pearce was a straight red,so guy who got winnershould not have been on the pitch.also thought first goal was poor from Phillips point of view, although the guy should not have been allowed that space.
Didn’t watch it (first time I’ve not watched a televised game since I’ve supported Charlton) - better result than I anticipated....this Cnut has broken me. - it’s got to the point that I can’t muster any enthusiasm until he goes.
I thought we looked good in the first half with Grant a revelation up front as part of a very dangerous strike force with Taylor. If we can keep both fit I think they'll give most defences in L1 a torrid time. Lapslie did well also, showing clever touches around the opposition box.
Second half we failed to deal with their tactical change and seemed to run out of energy way too early. That's understandable with players like Taylor and Pratley who have been injured or behind with their pre-season, but there were too many others. I have to question the quality of their pre-season conditioning, although obviously the dearth of good back up on the bench was also a factor.
Phillips isn't a bad keeper, but he's not really good enough - yet. If circumstances dictate he gets a run of games this season it will no doubt help him to make the grade, but we'll drop points because of goalkeeping errors too. Sunderland's first goal was partly due to poor closing down by the defenders (and maybe Pratley being a bit knackered by then) but you would expect a keeper to save that shot at his near post from that far out. Amos would have stopped it, for example. Yes, he makes some spectacular saves but it counts for little when a soft one goes in.
Overall, I reckon we deserved a draw and it was heartbreaking to lose it in the last few seconds like that.
We need a new owner - I don't think we'll get one now until at least January.
We need Bowyer to be given the job permanently - that might happen if no takeover by the end of August.
We need a minimum 4-5 good signings - we won't get them; we'll get a loanee or two and maybe one of the out of contract players.
We need the medical and fitness team to get our injured players properly fit, the rest of the squad fit and strong enough to cope with the small squad size and to keep injury free - pigs might fly.
We need a lot of luck - hahaha this is Charlton.
Despite the loss, I was proud of the lads today. They deserve better than to have that fuckwit Duchatelet blighting their playing career.
I’m just so fucked off that I’m not fucked off with that result!
I predicted 2-1 Sunderland I think in the predictions, they are a lame mob and we are a dying football club . Son was in a cricket tourney at Ampleforth College all week and it’s 60 odd miles from Sunderland’s ground and I drove home last night rather than stay up for the game .
Watched the game once we’d all finished dancing around after England beat India in the test and me and 3 sons (one son has zero interest in football) were all going mad when Taylor slotted home the penalty come the end they weren’t as distraught as they have been in the past , I think my apathy is rubbing off on them .
Really feel for those legends (lunatics) who travelled the distance to be cruelly beaten so late they still have the bug but I’m just pretending now to keep the kids interested .
We are a joke club beyond all jokes .

On 12 hour dayshift, came in at 14.25 after working on some plant, saw 1-1 thought that isn't bad, then it changed to 2-1...then result..Effing club of ours....read some match reports even Sunderland's sounds like we deserved a point and again lack of scoring a second when on top has undone us again.

Still. Hope my passion comes back next home game.

Thanks Roland.

Page was really struggling in the second half, while Pearce had been limping even before he went off. Pratley needed subbing as well.
Was impressed with Grant, Taylor, Aribo and Lapslie though.
Taylor looked very good
Prately an excellent enforcer
Lapslie or Phillips are not up to this level
We need at least 5 professional players and we can do something
Goodnight

Very few footballers become star players on their full League debut or with only 8 League games under the belt.
IMO they will be perfectly decent for this level, but their inexperience sometimes shows.
And how do they get experience? ..... Of course, only by playing.
We did nothing in the second half.
Roland Out.

Very possibly. But maybe not quite. But we won't be in a dog fight. If we go down I will shout Allah Akbar! Ha ha banter. Only joking. Lol.
But we do have is much more of a togetherness that we didn't necessarily have in 15/16.
I thought we only signed injured players.
