A few moments from his performance today stood out for me today.
Albie tracking a Cheltenham player as they countered and ran with the ball into our half, and instead of standing him up, Albie goes to ground in some weak attempt at a tackle, leaving the guy free to run at our defenders with men over.
Albie on the edge of the box, daydreaming, not noticing his man has run beyond him, now free in the box to receive the pass and should have scored.
Albie charging headlessly to get a 'loose' ball, missing it completely, their man breaking into the huge gap behind and creating a chance.
Is it harsh to say the defensive side of his game looks schoolboy level at times?
Yet Adkins and Bowyer both see/saw enough in him to persist.
Bowyer never rated his tactical awareness / nous / whatever you want to call it. Fans couldn’t understand that decision because he’s a gifted talent but I think we’re now seeing exactly what LB saw day in day out at Sparrows Lane.
All his reservations were why LB usually stuck him out on a wing where it wouldn’t damage us too much if he got caught out. We’ve kept him around because his technical talent is undeniable. And we’ve been hoping he can learn the rest of the game as he gains experience.
Unfortunately, he’s now at 78 senior appearances and he isn’t getting it. He is just a walking liability in the middle of the pitch. He needs to drop a couple of levels where his mistakes won’t be so often punished, learn the thinking side of the game and maybe he can grow into a role in the EFL later in his career when he’s a bit older.

I have always thought he had something about him and could kick on, but today he really showed some bad signs. These clever balls he kept trying to play over the top, the long sprayed passes. He needs to get the basics right in the first instance.

I agree that he’s been poor but so has almost everyone else . Adkins has set us up to play no football and therefore it’s no wonder that a footballer won’t be playing well
The whole team has zero identity and imo Morgan has the least. Can’t tackle, doesn’t score, hardly creates.
He’s one of our own, so I’m not throwing him on the scrap heap, but he more than any of them needs to sit out. Watch from the stands and take a step back. See how he can play in this team, then hopefully come back stronger.
Cant be easy for any of our midfielder that get on the ball and then seeing a team full of statues hiding. The whole first half it was constantly going back to famewo from midfield because there was no movement.
Famewo then had a choice of playing it back to the keeper to hoof or just hoof it himself.

There was a big moment in the first half when we had a counter attack. Kirk was one on one with the full back and Morgan under hit a pass from 30 yards or so (No one else was in their half, except those two).Any player should be 100% over hitting the pass and giving the full back a torrid time by having him to chase the winger on the turn. Morgan under hit in and they stopped the attack. One of the most frustrating moments from yesterday’s IMO. Alongside, DJ’s miss.
I have no idea why, but he takes too long to decide where or who to pass to. That leaves him caught sometimes, but otherwise we lose impetus because the oppo’s defence have had time to write the book and then read the danger chapter again before it materialises. This is one of the biggest things that frustrate me around his game. Other than that please put Lee/Kirk on set pieces. One has come off in 6 games from recollection. Just not what we need right now.
