  • Bang average. You need to do more than want to lace a ball around like Beckham. Be more useful if he could lace a ball into the net now and again. He has one goal in 65 appearances.
  • I like morgan, he’s a player that looks like he has something about him that could be special but like today it just doesn’t quite seem to happen. I think a short spell out on loan could be the answer to unlocking whatever it is that’s not happening.
  • I can only assume that he must show alot more in training than he does in matches. For Adkins to give him the 10 shirt and even in one of his pre match interviews towards the end of his time here he actually said he thought Albie would run the show that night and actually he was dire again.
I get a bit of stick on here sometimes for being negative about Albie but I mean it when I say I feel sorry for him, he is trying to do a job that is beyond him at the moment and will probably be feeling terrible best thing for him would be to move him on to a lower level where he will hopefully flourish
  • Good luck with the rest of your career Albie, and thanks for your time with us

I got lol’ed shitloads, for daring to say he wasn’t good enough last season. I’m genuinely disappointed that I’m absolutely correct. But we need to be looking upwards so In turn need the players to achieve that. He had yet another chance to prove he is good enough against a team from a level he by some people’s opinion should piss all over. He didn’t and he can’t,,, yet. Hope in the future he manages to live up to expectation, but its probably going to be elsewhere.

  • As a product of the academy he gets more chances than a player brought in from outside but those chances are almost all used up.
  • They might struggle to find a club willing to take him on loan after today's performance.
  • Let him go. He'll probably be a good player in five years but it's not worth the squad place at this point.

I’d swap him for Brendan Wiredu all day long, released the wrong player by the looks of things.
What’s wiredu Done to warrant a place in a league 1 squad?
I can't profess to have seen much of him myself,, but have seen some Colchester fans on Twitter have been saying they think he's too good for League Two.

How right they are, who knows?
  • The game changed today when Lee replaced Morgan.
(Not saying it was the only reason).

No less than Morgan that's for sure.
  • One of the only ones who keeps going, even when we're rubbish.  I wish there was more payoff in terms of goals and assists from Albie.  But if JJ keeps on playing an extra man in midfield he'd be on the bench for me.

He can cover multiple areas in midfield and full back.  When the other players are putting a proper shift in, Albie's energy in finding space is brilliant.  Plus his defensive covering is superb.  Why are we writing him off after all our midfield has been worse than L1 relegation?  Which other midfielder deserves such opprobium?  All of them.  I will judge him again when he's back in a confident side.

Granted Leko, Lee, Gilbey and Jaiyesimi are a bit ahead of him at the moment.  But when his confidence comes back up, I would have him straight back on the bench at the least.

It's pretty stark the regression that occurred under Adkins.

I know, I know, but maybe Bowyer's style did work with the lad. (still shouldn't ever be public though)

Perhaps he needs to go on loan to learn a different perspective, he’s always been here (not been loaned out before has he?) maybe he’s too comfortable and needs to learn about himself, he plays like someone with no consequences, if he plays badly he’s not fussed; if he’s not picked he’s not fussed.
  • I’m not sure it’s as easy as “he should just go on loan”. There needs to be someone interested in taking him at an appropriate level.

Indeed, what is needed and what is possible aren’t the same

Or did that style of management cause the issue that now presents perhaps.

  • I can’t remember, but did he have a loan spell at some point?  I think it got cut short when we were in the Championship maybe.  Might be wrong

At the moment, doesn’t look like it will work out for him here, but you never know.  He does seem to be far down the pecking order now and when JFC returns, could be a bit further.   If the 3 of Dobson, Gilbey & Lee continue to start for Jackson and we move up the table, is there an argument to send Arter back to Forest in Jan (if we can), send Morgan out on loan/sell and look at a better replacement?

Yeah he spent time on loan @ Ebbsfleet

What regression? I don't remember him ever being good enough to have 'regressed'. Seems he's at the same level he's always been, which is the problem

He certainly improved temporarily under Bowyer. He's regressed big time since the start of the season.

@Croydon he's regressed in confidence and ability. He's still buzzing about the pitch, but his passing is far more wayward and he's not making those passes he was good at.

He's never been near a complete article (at least as much as a young league 1 player can be), but since March you can't say he hasn't gone backwards.

Agreed. He looks like a player whose confidence is shot, completely confused what he should be doing out there.
  • I don't think you'll see much difference in quality between Morgan, Dempsey and Henry very soon.

I think the reason Albie got the number 10 was down to a lack of other options. I'm guessing Adkins had to 'big him up' he's not gonna say Albie is average and doesn't possess a goal threat. I'm firmly in the Albie tries hard, but there is definitely something missing camp. Based on yesterdays game and what I've seen of Arter in a Charlton Shirt he is also pretty awful. Quite how the guy is earning £40k a week is anyones guess.

It's not just that he tries hard.
For me he's shown some really good vision at times and hits passes that I doubt many in the squad could replicate.
His problem is that he just has flashes and never shines for 90 minutes. And as others have said, against the likes of H&W he really should be standing out a lot more.
  • Gutted for him, just isn’t clicking.  I can’t help but wonder how different things may be if he was loaned out and got a season under his belt at a lower standard a few years back, you can probably blame Roland for that I guess, not enough options to have that luxury.
