Crossbar Challenge - changed?

Did anybody else pick up on Brian Cole announcing that participants for the halftime crossbar challenge would be drawn from a combined pool of Valley Gold contributors and those who put draw tickets in a box with name and phone number?
That’s a change, right? Used to be just the lucky draw entrants, right?

Think it has always been that way.Siv_in_Norfolk said:Did anybody else pick up on Brian Cole announcing that participants for the halftime crossbar challenge would be drawn from a combined pool of Valley Gold contributors and those who put draw tickets in a box with name and phone number?

The challenge is now, if the first person hits the crossbar they pay the club £500 if they miss it rollsover to the second person who pays them £1000 and so it goes on until someone is successful.19

Always been that way0

They're not moving the goal posts, are they, @Siv_in_Norfolk ?10

Aha.... I must have just missed it until now0

Has the prize become a bag of crisps if you hit the bar? We surely can't afford to give away money1
-
But it is a family sized bag.0

Brian makes sure that only hopeless people get to take the challenge, so that he gets to keep the crisps...Rossman92 said:Has the prize become a bag of crisps if you hit the bar? We surely can't afford to give away money

Yep, cash prize has gone and been replaced by a packet of Walkers Prawn Cocktail flavour. You're not allowed to consume them in the stadium though, due to the extra cleaning costs incurred from sweeping up the crumbs.Rossman92 said:Has the prize become a bag of crisps if you hit the bar? And you won't get a bottle of water either unless you're a first teamer.0

Duchatelet has no control over Valley Gold monies who organise the crossbar challenge.3

I’m trying to imagine how they do a draw incorporating lucky draw tickets and valley gold members
Seriously. Anybody know how they do it?0 -

I think I find a different thread each time to comment on the effort
todays was decent enough , lifted up and over the bar for once rather than some of the pathetic dribblers along the floor .
think it’s up to £7k for the Swansea game !0 -
Been done tonight ffs
they wait till I’m not there
£7k well done whoever won it
any videos ?

Bloke/kid was so laid back after,I woulda been running around that pitch, like a looney, shirt off swinging around then a Jacko knee slide followed by a belly dive...👍4

Fellah did well but looked like he had won £7, either a Roland minimum wage risk reducing ringer or his dad made him do it and he was too cool to show any emotion.
Either way, fair play to him and hope he enjoys the cash.0 -
It went in as well! He'd better not turn out to be a Man City fan on a jolly0

I think the kid was either in shock or had ice in his veins. Either way great effort.0

The one thing you don’t see is the ball hitting the bar.5 -
Was great as both Naby and Darren went over to congratulate him1

Kid was probably shy and embarrassed. Only looked about 15/16. Hope he gets a decent cut off Uncle Phil
