Remember him as a mainstay of the Bobby Robson Ipswich side containing, Mariner, Brazil, Butcher, Wark, Gates to name but a few. Pretty sure he played in the 1981, 5th round FA Cup tie against us at Portman road (we lost 0-2). We were riding high in Division 3 under Mike Bailey en route back to Division 2 (Championship) whilst they were runners up in the old the first Division (Premier) that season and UEFA Cup Winners.
RIP Kevin
Only 64 too

RIP Kevin.

Just as an aside, was he one of the Ipswich players who appeared in Escape to Victory? I know Russell Osman and John Wark did, amongst others, but I can’t remember if Beattie had a role.
