  • had the playoff issue last year its always a bank holiday so those on tight holiday schedules can go away and save a days holiday

Fair point. But for the sake of saving that one day of holiday, you risk missing out on a trip to Wembley and possible life time memories. (Will anyone at Wembley for the Sunderland game ever forget it?)

Not everyone's mates support EFL teams.
If your other 5 friends want to do that weekend do you just miss out ?
  • Few booked in already:

South Africa for 2 weeks at the end of Feb and then on to Mauritius for 8 days.

    Las Vegas in April

Barcelona for a long weekend at the end of May (unfortunately it’s the play of Final weekend).

Serious question. Why book the playoff weekend and risk huge disappointment should we be involved?
    I didn’t book it.
  • glad you kicked another off, ta

have booked Barcelona Friday - Monday for Mrs 30th going middle of may ( wouldn't want to be away for play off final or final game of season ), what is weather like?

also am looking at heading to Greece for a week in September any recommendations welcomed after doing long haul mexico last year didn't enjoy it too much so thought would go shorter haul and just a week this year.

Check out Crete - fantastic place. I can recommend Rethymnon which is ideally placed. There is a marvellous area about a 10-15 minute drive just down the coast which has a lovely deserted beach with beach-bars, restaurants etc - you can spend the whole day there. You will of course need a car. It's a big island with lot's to see and do.

OK, it is that time of year where we start thinking about next years holidays

My boys will be 6+8 next summer

Looking for an All Inclusive that has a water-park attached to the hotel

    Any recommendations ?

Caretta Beach in Kalamaki (Zante), absolutely superb all inc, couldn't fault it.....8 pools and a waterpark, all spread out with no high rise blocks so it didn't feel like one huge place.

In the evenings (as well as the entertainment) there were about 5 of the biggest bouncy castles I've ever seen virtually onsite for the kids.

We went in a massive group and all the kids had a ball.
We head to Kalamaki most years (creatures of habit but it gives us exactly what we want from our hols). Caretta Beach is always really popular with families and many go back year after year.
  • My first cruise March 3rd. 10 Caribbean islands in 14 days, Am in Bassetierre, St, Kitts when England play WIndies T20 but ship departs 6pm and match starts, yes you've guessed, 6pm ...
  • We are looking at Thailand for next February, we fancy the North where it is not so commercialised.
  • Few booked in already:

South Africa for 2 weeks at the end of Feb and then on to Mauritius for 8 days.

    Las Vegas in April

Barcelona for a long weekend at the end of May (unfortunately it’s the play of Final weekend).

Nice one ricky, we have done all of the above barring Las Vegas, have you got a safari planed in SA?

    Recently came back from Bulgaria.

    Aqua Nevis Club Hotel.

All inclusive, water park attached to it is included too, near the beach. We went for 7 nights with First Choice and was meant to be £1500 for the two of us but it was £700 (£350pp), that included everything, flights, transfers, bags and airport parking, the lot.

    Would really recommend.

Get jealous reading this thread, but had a good few years holidaying before buying house and mortgage and saving for hopefully children, plus paying of Russia WC semi still - boo hoo.

That said, got a long weekend in Stuttgart (Octoberfest) for mates 30th next month (not 2019 I know) and really want to get to Belfast for 12th July next summer - mates go every year, so long been on the bucket list.
  • Anyone been to Costa Adeje in Tenerife for a family holiday?

Thinking about going next year and staying at baobab suites

    2 adults 3 kids

No mate - going to Cape Town then Jo’burg and then on to stellenbosch for a wedding - wine region so will be in my element!

The down side of all of this is most of my annual leave will be done by the end of April.... I feel a back injury coming on next summer.

Paving slab on the foot mate.
  • My little fella will be 2 in July so we’re gonna do a beach holiday I think. Already taken him to nyc and he was fine with the flight so no worries there. Any suggestions for somewhere quite in the med with good restaurants and no riff raff 😉

Heading to Athens and Mykonos next Thursday so will let you know!
  • Booked on a two week Med Cruise from 18th May. Really looking forward to it already. Barcelona, Rome, Cartegna, Villefrance, Cadiz and The Rock. Going with friends, going to have a great time.

Off to Sydney in December to start a month long trip... 3 weeks in Oz and then we end up in Hong Kong for 6 boozy nights celebrating my special birthday with some of my old drinking partners from back in the 90's when I lived there.

    I can not wait!

And that will pretty much be my holiday for 2019 all used up.

    Happy 21st :-)

  • We're looking at Sorrento for next year. Done all inclusive in Spain/Turkey for the last 4 years, which has been great but looking to do a bit more while we're away now. Daughter really wants to see Pompei and we both love Italy.

Was supposed to be sorting a weekend in Germany to watch a game with @ricky_otto this year but haven't got round to it. Hopefully sort something next year.

I would recommend Naples too if you’re going. Sorrento is lovely (if not v touristy and expensive with the day trippers) but a great base for exploring the rest of the amalfi. We did Naples for a weekend went to Herculaneum and climbed Vesuvius the got a boat to sorrento where you can go to
Pompeii. We then caught another boat to amalfi which was our base for the week where we walked trails into the valley down to atrani. Got a tour bus to ravello and a boat to positano. Went in May. Stunning place.

Have you checked when the play off final is?
  • Barbados for the honeymoon, 11 days stay

  • @clb74 you're looking at a 48 night cruise?

    Sorry mate should explain better.
I'd be looking for autumn next year and not sure if I should book a couple of months before we go.
The carribean cruise is for November this year and Dubai January 19.
I was just putting them on here as an example of what good deals you can get two months before.
Best cruise to date was NewYork for 4 nights and then back across the pond on the qm2 for 7 nights about £1000 each.
Also looking at mon-friday dymchurch next week self catering in caravan £89

You can't beat Dymchurch with kids, especially as the weather looks good next week.
