I used the word 'humiliation' in an earlier post .. 'twas us who were the humblers ((:>)
  • And everyone laughed at that post that said we were a sleeping giant...

Yes. On that evidence we would smash league 2.

I think someone who started talking about this game at the beginning today stated that history would be made.. and they were right...

    That was me. Thank you.

But still no programme for the museum to put on show for future generations to adore!
    We've got our copy thanks

I've signed up to stevenage iFollow uk monthly pass (with full match replays) for £4.49 - if it puts the match up I'll let any interested parties know in case anyone wants to witness our greatest ever victory in full

More likely I'll accidentally forget to cancel and be billed every month for the rest of the season.

Just on the way home. Was questioning my sanity on the way there, definitely not so now!

Really pleased for Stevenson, that second goal was mustard. He certainly looked good going forward. Is he ready? He had barely anything to do defensively as Stevenage were so poor, so difficult to judge.

Thought Ward and Marshall best players on the night.

A final word on Ajose. Thought he played well but his behaviour surrounding that penalty was awful. People will say he’s a striker and he wants to score goals, but we’re 6-0 up and a debutant defender has an opportunity to score a hat-trick. Yet he threw a strop. Not the reaction of a team player.

It’s all about the goal scoring bonus for Ajose

    Always loved this competition...
  • I am a footballing snob , I'm embarrassed about our record win , only we could secure it in the most pissy wank of a competition .

Good on the lads (and lasses) who played and went but I'm not one to get a hard on by beating shit clubs in an even shittier competition , I'd swap it for 3 league points

I don't claim to know more than Bowyer but I suspect he has a problem with Marshall that is effecting his judgement on the player. He should have been our right back on Saturday without a doubt.

and possibly Ajose as well.. judging by the selfishness of not allowing a youngster his chance to get a hat trick with a pen. (maybe it is his determination to get in the 1st team).
  • After tonight should we be playing a back 3 with Djiksteel as a right sided CB?

    My record at Stevenage is now P2 W2 F12 A 0
I was worried how the boys would cope without Chris Kiwomya, but to be fair to them they did a good job.

Or even LB seeing as he is decent with both feet.

He seems so focused on what he can't do, always slagging off his crossing, he can't see what he can do. I think he was the same with Josh tbh.
  • Do we get extra point for scoring more than 5 goals ?

I think Marshall is a bang average winger - but when he plays wing back, he even looks better offensively. He is very solid defensively from what I have seen. At his age, the move to that position is a logical one and I think it would work.

Marshall is great at whipping crosses into the box from deep, off both feet, what he doesn't do is beat a man on the outside and hit a cross in on the run.

What a surprise, a cracking night, good to chat to @Bedsaddick and @bazjonster before the game, and great to see some talented youngsters waiting in the wings, at 0-0 I thought Naby's incredible pass was worth the tenner to get in, watching history being made as the goals flew in, priceless.

Thats 16 goals in 2 games following Charlton away this week, cant wait for Barnsley now, up the Addicks

So he's naturally left-footed but a very two footed player. On the couple of occasions he played on the left last year I thought he looked better as his crossing is better on his left and playing on the left meant he could just take a touch and put in a cross.

That said, the formation, opposition, and type of game tonight were drastically different to Saturday or even last Tuesday. He had very little defending to do tonight, and what he did was largely done in the opposition half where he'll be more comfortable doing a job as he's naturally a winger. Defending in your own box in a back four is a different proposition. When we play with five at the back I think he's a decent option, but when it comes to playing as a normal fullback I think he'd look far more exposed.
