Hopefully be able to get tickets and there are a lot of Argentinian fans here so should be a good atmosphere. Could actually be trouble though between Madrid based River and Boca fans so security will have to be tight.
Brings back memories of the Junior Reds coach at Birmingham.
I was on the coach. Shocking behaviour - those morons even attacked their own stewards to try and get to us. It was like Fort Apache/The Alamo for a while as we couldn't get out of the ground. The 'wonderful' West Midlands police couldn't give a toss - not a sign of them all afternoon. Even the team coach had no escort. They eventually sent a mini with a couple of plods to get us back on the coach - which incidentally had the window next to where my daughter was sitting bricked. The outer window blew while we were on the motorway! I won't forget that birthday in a hurry! Ever since I always allow myself a little smile when I see Birmingham have lost.
I have hated Birmingham with a passion because of that and the Jasper Carrott half time rant at another game there.
If this was 98 I remember him singing “stand up if your knob is blue” and the home crowd lapping it up. Don’t remember a rant as such?!?
Certainly before the football experience become so sanitised. Imagine that happening now. He’d have to apologise afterwards after for offending those with blue knobs, without blue knobs and just with no knob at all.
Do remember the noise they made with ‘Keep Right On’ being incredible, plus the animal behaviour outside after.

Lets not forget all the trouble they caused in the game against Millwall, I mean it was all the birmingham fans fault
So is it now a one off game as opposed to the 2nd leg?
Technically both. It’s still a 2nd leg but the first was 2-2 and away goals don’t count. So regardless of being moved to Spain it was always going to be a one leg final

hardly fair though given that one team had the benefit of a home leg but couldn't capitalise, now the other team don't get the same benefit ?

They played each other in a quarter-final three years ago, when River Plate players were attacked with tear gas by Boca supporters, so similar circumstances to this time around. Boca were expelled from the competition and River awarded the tie. Given that precedent, I think River can consider themselves fortunate that the trophy hasn't already been awarded to Boca.

Waiting for ticket details to be released and hoping I can get them at a decent price. Wonder how much they will be and how many will be available to general public after River have their allocation.

I imagine this will be hard to segregate and can possibly end in more trouble.
They should make a stance and say bollox, nobody wins it because your fans are cnuts.
Might make them think in the future.
The Boca fans didn't do anything (this time) though, so why would they be not allowed to win it? Also, who is the 'they' who should make a stance - FIFA, CONMEBOL, the police? Not really sure what your point is.
Tim Vickery .. I paraphrase .. 'the Copa was originally inaugurated to celebrate the continent's freedom from the rule of Spain (and Portugal) .. now the capital city of the old colonial master is the only safe place to hold the final'
Pissing well behave then!!... River have bloody gotten away with it seeing that Boca got thrown out of the competition for the same faults a few years ago
Should count themselves lucky that they've not been thrown out themselves
Been looking at ways of getting tickets for this and it hasn't seemed clear so far, so wondered how official it was. Did see that tickets would possibly go on sale on Sunday so hopefully will know more tomorrow.

Whatever the Argentinian authority is of course.
And my point is maybe the fans might think differently in the future if their behaviour is actually dealt with.
But why would Boca be thrown out due to the behaviour of River fans? I totally agree that there needs to be a tough stance on hooliganism but it doesn't really make sense to throw both teams out due to the behaviour of one set of fans.

I remember a while ago a whole country got thrown out of European competition for some years because of the behaviour of fans of some clubs. And there were not criminals involved in it either...

Surely they could just have it in another south american country.
Argentina could win something in the Falklands.

Good time for a match, will it be the most watched South American club match in U.K. history?
