My heart sank when I saw the line up. We only needed a draw to win the group but offering up an Under 21's defence, I felt we were showing our disdain for this competition. This was exemplified by a motionless Lee Bowyer throughout the whole game. I get all the counter arguments of we need to blood these youngsters in, we can't risk our main first team players because of injury, fatigue etc and we need to focus on our prime objective of getting out of League One but I'm old school - I want to win every game. If the majority of Charlton supporters who stayed away last night are in line with Lee Bowyer's thought process, then that's fair enough and I sincerely hope I'm proved wrong. As for the game, the young cygnets caused our fledgling defence countless problems early on and it took some while to get some sort of foothold on the game. Truth be told, Swansea U21's were quite profligate with their chances in the 1st half and ironically got their goal in the 2nd period when we improved somewhat. We afforded too much space for Maric. The most promising of the newcomers for us was Wiredu. He had a good first touch and was at ease with the ball. Our midfield didn't particularly click and we are fast running out of backup front line options. Hackett-Fairchild joining the casualty list and Ajose quite frankly looks like he would prefer to be somewhere else. Another flat Tuesday evening at the Valley.
Somebody posted above that it was the two doubles barrels but sarpong-wiredu and maynard-brewer seem ok, as does fosu-Henry.
Sooooo... who was the other injury?
I always want us to get to Wembley and win this. The U23 thing should be scrapped, but other than that I always think it’s a shame that people don’t seem interested in winning a cup we are one of the favourites for
In theory we are the favourites, if we played our first team in every game. It turns out that the team that wins are probably one whose cobbled together checkatrade starting 11 of youth team and fringe players has managed to put a run of wins together. It not until the semi-final that anything like a first 11 is played.

Love the fact that we write our name on the balls like every other amateur club in the country

Hackett-Fairchild and who?
