Re Brooklyn, I'd completely forgotten about this. I think Saoirse Ronan is one of the finest young actors around so I'll probably give this a go.

    The book is better.
No book is ever better than the film.
    FACT.
Lord of the Rings. All three books are a bit better than the films.

The Hobbit. The book is much better than the three films.
Thats not hard, the films are shit

Cable Guy is one of Carey's weakest films.

I know. That's not the original King Kong or even the Peter Jackson remake. It's a 1976 B movie King Kong . I do my homework !

As for The Fast and The Furious . It's rubbish in my opinion. A couple of the later ones are watchable but not the earlier films.

    Jaws is a great film.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    SPOILER ALERT
    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you've read the book and liked the bit where Dreyfuss's character cops it, sadly that's not in the film.

I’m not puting sky or streaming services on the recommendations because there is far to much choice. Just Freeview but if you want a couple of personal Netflix recommendations Watch Roma & The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs .

The scene in Jaws where the head pops out from the boat still scares the life out of me.

Mate, my dad would tell you I watched Jaws in about 1979 4 years old and I was cross legged on the floor and the floating head emerged and I jumped vertically up from the floor on my arse. That scared me for about 10 years and I’m still at 34 years old sh*tvscared of the sea from that film

So you were 4 in 1979 and you’re now 34? Don’t get a job in a bank mate.

That bit and 'Sloth' being alive in Se7en made me jump more than any horror film.

Sorry to interrupt this thread. I'm just curious to know if the holiday has already started in the UK? Most people don't have to go to work starting from when? I work in the international business department of a bank and our clients are still receiving funds from their foreign buyers and I thought most people in the west had gone on holiday by now?

The actual bank holidays are the 25th and 26th (and the 1st of January). A lot of offices are likely to have an enforced day of annual leave on the 24th this year, as so many staff will be wanting to take the day off so they can travel to visit family or do last minute prep, but that won't be universal. So it may tail off a bit tomorrow as people knock off early, and be fairly quiet on Monday, but I doubt it'll be completely dead.
