You do realise not everyone is 70 years old right ? There are plenty of great films on during Christmas. You just been to be more broad minded and remember it’s 2018.

I took out a free trial subscription on the Amazon BFI channel. In the last couple of days I've watched In Which We Serve, Battle of the River Plate and Secret Agent. Still a few more oldies to watch before I cancel the subscription.
  • Had a very lazy afternoon and watched men in black, men in black II and God’s and Kings.

First stil great, second OK, third pretty rubbish tbf.

  • The Alastair Sim 'Scrooge' is on tomorrow. I have never seen it but the reviews suggest that it's better than today's Albert Finney one.

  • Alpha is a good film for dog lovers. I think it is available on Sky Store.

I can't remember the name of the film but the one where a hitman (for some reason I remember it being David Bowie) shoots a dog is a good film for dog haters.
John Wick ? He’s a hitman whose dog is killed but he doesn’t shoot a dog and David Bowie definitely isn’t in it ? Other than that a can’t think of what film you are thinking about.
It’s late ‘70s or early ‘80s and I remember a lift door opens, the dog yaps and the bloke shoots it. May have had Martin Short in it.
You may be thinking of 'Mary, Mungo and Midge' but I don't remember Mungo getting shot.
  • Is Warrior the one starring Tom Hardy? I liked it. Slow start and the story was very simple but by the end I was moved to tears.

    Yes it is .
  • Lego Movie is great!
  • Rear window is my favourite film of all time!
  • Cheers @Bedsaddick just about on +1 watch him get his weener caught in his zip :-)
  • Frank n beans
  • Just off in a while for last minute shop and then to cinema to see 'It's a wonderful life'.
Never seen it on the big screen and I'm really looking forward to it.

The Sim version is excellent. Watch out for a youthful George Cole.

Enjoy . It’s still the best Christmas movie ever made in my opinion
  • Rear window is my favourite film of all time!

It’s probably Hitchcock's best but what a stupid time to put it on !

mate you should check out Talking Pictures or Retro (Talking Pictures is defiantly on freeview but i'm not sure about Retro.). both channels have some cracking older British (and american) films.
  • wfh today (put back out and can't get off the floor) I have found Wizard of Oz on TCM

    .

Lady in the Van is very enjoyable
  • Just watching Shaun the sheep movie on BBC1, what a great fun movie to watch with kids. My kids are 21 and 18 and at work, their loss!!
  • Wizard of Oz finished. I've now found Oklahoma (not the Hugh Jackman/Maureen Lipman version) the 1955 version.

It was very good. Slightly marred by parents thinking it's a film toddlers could sit quietly through.

The best Christmas film and one of the best films full stop. Much darker than you would expect, if all you've seen is the poster, and that balances out the sentimentality in my opinion. Let us know what you think of it.

I have seen it a few times over the years but always on tv, vhs or dvd, and it is one of the films I remember well.
Seeing it in the cinema was good but as I mentioned earlier some people brought young children to it. Which shows they don't know the film.
It was very good. I would recommend seeing it on the big screen.
As ever I shed a few tears at the end.
Seems very apposite for the economic politics of today.
The audience applauded at the end.
