Fans are more forgiving of an ex-player and so when they get it wrong they still have the support of the fans and more time to put it right. Outsiders just need to screw up once and the fan base starts to turn against them.
Would anybody but Chrissy powell for instance have got away with that dreadful run of defeats in the championship culminating with quickly going 2-0 down to Cardiff and have the fans in the ground all get behind him to stop him getting sacked and turn the game around so spectacularly?

It's difficult to know, but you make a good point. I think those defeats made him realise he had to change a lot. Powell did a great job here. It is a shame the rug was pulled when it was. Incredibly happy with Bowyer. Would never have had him on a list of potential managers but it just shows you that you never know.
I think when you own a club, you should dream of finding a Curbishley. Sadly most owners think they know more than the managers, when their job is to find the right manager. And as we have seen, it isn't an easy job. There is a strong possibility we have found a gem in Bowyer. The problem for Duchatelet was this was always about him from the off and his plan - doing it the right way - finding the right manager and backing him was never what his ego demanded. He wanted to be the Moneyball type revolutionary of football. Now, by accident he might be on to something, he hasn't got the football brains to realise it.

But you're still an apologist, Happy Christmas.
