✍️ | We’re delighted to announce the signing of South African Test bowling all-rounder Wiaan Mulder for seven Specsavers County Championship matches
There's spin and there's spin - played one Test match against Sri Lanka in which he scored 14 runs and had bowling figures of 1-12.
Still, he is only 21 and has clearly arrived on the recommendation of Donald so all for it - especially with the number of bowlers we have injured at the moment.
I was there today. An enjoyable day of cricket. Strange day in that at times batting looked easy so batsmen got 'in' but then every so often there looked to be some life in the pitch which enabled even dear old Mitch to get it up around the rib cage on occasions. The pitch either eased in the afternoon sun or the ball got softer combined with Kent's inherent difficulties in removing a tail. We were fortunate that a stubborn last wicket stand was ended by the bowler (Big Mitch) deflecting the ball onto the stumps from a straight drive for a 'backing up' run out.
When we batted Zak Crawley made it all look very easy although Bresnan rolled back the years and looked hostile from the Pavillion end.
Lovely day with great company in the Harris Suite watching from the balcony of the Colin Cowdrey stand.
Hopefully Zak will go on to get a well deserved ton tomorrow and give us the foundation for a decent first innings lead.
Robinson kept very tidily yesterday too and took a decent diving catch.
The absence of Billings is a great opportunity for him to keep this season, and not being in the team solely for his runs may reduce the pressure on him with the bat too

Hmmmmm BBC need to learn that you don't have last man stand anymore....
Thought we played pretty well against a team that's through to the final stages of the Cup.
Still lacking a bowler or two but great knock from young Zak backed up by Renshaw and then Blakey.
We made a swift exit once the latter's wicket was shattered as the cold finally defeated us.
But we witnessed 700 runs and then listened to 3 glorious goals from the red side of Liverpool thanks to Five Live on the journey home.
Surely nothing will beat that for a day of sport ?
Having said that, it's a funny card with even run scoring down the order and nobody getting more than 30 (yet)
lovely jubbly
