  • [cite]Posted By: Sco[/cite]Isn't pub now "Nuclear" ? As in nuclear sub.

I prefer Ollie's made up ones, here's my effort:

    Technical hitch: B*tch
    Aunt Sally: Valley
    Jarvis Cocker: Soccer
    Gareth Gates: Mates

    So you can have:

Got a technical of an hangover, but I'm going down the aunt with a few Gareths to watch the old Jarvis.

Sco - watch out with the use of Gareths as my interpretation rhymes with Gareth Hunt....!

  • Derby Kelly = Belly
  • Two and eight is an old dice gambling term, a game much like craps which was played sine the 13th C in England. A right 2 and 8 is not rymhing slang it is to with being an idiot gambler.
  • Pickwick, thank you for that.

Like so much rhyming slang, things have changed over the years, as this thread has pointed out quite well I think.

As such, 2 & 8 to me & mine was always rhyming slang for 'state'.

    I stand corrected.
