We have 3 centrebacks and our first choice left back out injured already... We just have Danny mac clearing everything up so isn't an issue

I just had a count up. After todays game we have 9 players out injured. All of them would be in or around the first team. Including our keeper, who after coming back from a year out has been magnificent so far this season. Picked up an injury in training this week and is out long term. Also our two players of the season last season, Crama and Azeez, both injured, Crama long term. Cundle, scored two this season already, stretched off today. Left back Zak Sturge was ill today but alex Neil said he still had to play him as there was no back up for that position (Doughty is injured). The list goes on. It’s mental. 

Still, glad Danny boy is doing well for you. Shame he’ll be injured by the time we play in December 😉

Don't worry, our mate Douchebag will be along soon to rub it in and call Lisbie and Arconte overpriced players who'll never make it and you'll be top by November and we'll be 16th

I think it’s worth remembering just how good Southampton were last season before spygate. They have a very good team and manager and won’t be far off the automatic places and definitely playoffs. Millwall caught a cold today and it’s gratifying to see they aren’t without weaknesses. I still expect them to be top eight. No amount of me wanting them to struggle will make it happen. Who’s getting over-excited?

We have a tiny value squad, no ground we own and no money to speak of.

We have endured years of shit owners, managers and teams UNTIL the current lot bought us and employed Nathan Jones, since which our club is on the way back.

We played our reserves against Spurs the other night who fielded one player who was worth more than the total value of our entire squad AND our stadium.

EVERYONE predicted we would be relegated this season and of course, that may happen.

So, we know our place and today, I think that 7 academy products played in our first team where we deservedly beat a horrible Preston team. We have more players out injured than you, but not the budget you have to buy players we could never afford.

if we finish 21st, most of us will be happy, because we know we cannot compete with teams in this league who regularly buy players at £6m+, multiple times. So less of your pointless bollox about injuries and how hard done by Millwall are. 

You are a bigger club than us, but nothing is permanent - remember that.

The only downside of being in this league is having to listen to the gobshite that Millwall fans spew out. 

And when you were properly tested in the play offs last year, you blew it- focus on yourselves and do not bore us anymore

Feels like since he left us bar that one season at Luton in the prem when he was fit regularly he's struggled a lot with injury and is there a bit of regret with your fans that you didn't take some of the supposed offers for Ivanovich?

He’s been a bit of a disappointment tbh. We’ll be lucky to get a dozen or so games out of him it would see. He’s a Millwall boy through  and through but it seems he doesn’t take his fitness that seriously. He always looks like he’s carrying a bit of weight and there’s rumours that he likes a beer or two. Sad really. 

Re Ivanovic, of course hindsight is a wonderful thing. That half a season he had when he was scoring for fun seems a distant memory and if we’d known his form would suddenly dip we’d have cashed in, but we were never to know. I think he’ll still come good again. He’s still only 21. He’s got the talent. He just needs to sort out his work rate I think. He could learn a lot from Coburn on that front.

I never said you were. It was a comment aimed at football fans in general, not just Charlton fans. I heard some of our fans talking about challenging for top 2 after our win v Norwich. So I’m including our fans in that as well. Equally, I don’t think west ham fans should be panicking after three games. I saw some of their fans talking about relegation on SM 🤷‍♂️🤯

To me the bigger of any two clubs can be calculated by taking each club’s average attendance, dividing it by its average position in the league over the last five seasons, and adding the number of members of that club’s main forum. Then multiply the total by two for each major trophy won, and then by the number of years spent in the top flight.
It’s simple really.

Yeah the couple of games I saw of Alfie last season he looked like he'd lost a good yard or so of pace and was carrying a bit. Shame for someone that had absolutely electric pace when he first broke through. 

Oh hindsight is always such a wonderful thing especially with strikers! Didn't realise he was only 21 so plenty of time on his side.

i don’t often comment on Millwall, but for some reason today, your comments irritated me and I chose to respond.

I think some Millwall fans seem to think that they will walk this league this year [a few I know have said that to me] and after you get drubbed today, the excuses are already out there. Just accept you were beaten by a better team.

I have no problem with your team or manager or owners, but a sizeable chunk of supporters do seem to be lacking in the common sense department, something that has blighted your club for decades.

I joined in Feb 2013. I’ve just turned the private setting off so feel free to take a look.

Nearly all my family are Millwall. I have scores of friends who are Millwall. I go to every home game and a big chunk of the away games and I  am always chatting to Millwall fans. I browse the forums and social media pages. I can honestly say I’ve not heard or seen one of us talk about ‘walking the league’ after two games. At least not seriously anyway. I’ve seen people discussing our chances of making the top 2, which is why I said some of our fans are getting ‘over excited’ early doors. But walking the league? After two games? No I’ve not heard or seen that mentioned.

Well yeah, but at the same time this is the Millwank thread and MillwallFan has almost certainly been on here longer than you, and posted twice as much as you, so unfortunately I think he is probably taking precedence here. FWIW I i haven't seen a single Millwall fan claiming they'll be top 2 or walk the league, so I dunno where in your 'arris you've pulled that from, but I doubt it's true for a second.

I am surrounded by Millwall supporters who do think they will walk it this year, so that was a key part of my comments.

What exactly is the point of having a Millwall thread here even if they have  been here a long time?

Nearly all my family are Millwall. I have scores of friends who are Millwall. I go to every home game and a big chunk of the away games and I  am always chatting to Millwall fans. I browse the forums and social media pages. I can honestly say I’ve not heard or seen one of us talk about ‘walking the league’ after two games. At least not seriously anyway. I’ve seen people discussing our chances of making the top 2, which is why I said some of our fans are getting ‘over excited’ early doors. But walking the league? After two games? No I’ve not heard or seen that mentioned. 

So are lots of my family and friends season ticket holders- a bit buoyed after the first 2 games and then looking for excuses yesterday. 

It’s all banter, but after all we have been through over the last few years, do I want to read about Millwall here?

Maybe I will not bother to comment on this thread again, but boy am I bored with Millwall [and Palace].

And this was my point yesterday. I honestly don’t mean this as a dig, but if you’re bored with all things Millwall then it might be an idea to avoid the only thread on here that’s solely about Millwall. 

As mentioned above, when I first joined there would sometimes be 2 or 3 Millwall threads running on the first page alone  (because we were doing shit so people wanted to talk about us more). At least now it’s all condensed on one thread.

Millwall were one of the strongest teams in The Championship last season and missed out on a Wembley playoff final through what was to me an un explicable second leg semi final defeat at home to Hull. My wife’s family are all Millwall fans and the consensus I’ve gleaned from them is that they’re not going to be quite as strong this season and might get top eight. The league is tougher this year and that they need have a season of consolidation. I think that’s a reasonable assessment although I’d be surprised if they don’t get at least eighth.

To be fair to Millwall, the offensive players Southampton have are very strong for the level.  It might have been better not to score against them so early. But no team wins every away game and I was expecting Southampton to win. I think they should have been given a greater points penalty btw.

Yes I agree with that totally. We have a lot of new young players who need to find their championship feet and bed in. This could take half a season or more. As you say The league is stronger this year. I actually think we’ll be able to have another good go at the automatics in a season or two, but this season? Very little chance on my opinion. Would be happy with top 8.
