If we have the cash the players suggested would be nice but we need a box to box midfielder more than anything, we have an enforcer in Pratley, a jack of all trades master of none type in JFC but we need that player who can just get up and down and go the full 90
Why is everyone totally discounting Lapslie?
This is exactly what George does!
We all like George as a back up, but he wasn't good enough to hold down a regular L1 spot last season.
So unless he has improved massively in the last 6 weeks, what makes you think he will take a first 11 place in another 6 weeks ?
Perhaps, later in the season he may develop like Aribo did, but I think it's wishful thinking to expect Bowyer to pick him as a starter in the Championship.

I believe if we can get in enough midfielders with enough quality, Lapslie will go out on loan next season.
I rate George but I don't think he's ready to play in the first team, his challenges are reckless. He has the talent just needs more time, it ain't league 1 we can't develop players throwing them in the deep end
I think we will play a Curbs 4-4-2 next season as three wingers we have gone for have been lost. By that I mean, narrow midfield, with width coming from overlaps or Lyle doing Lyle and Aneke as a false 9, and Morgan, Williams and JFC venturing past as Stuart, Euell and Jensen used to.

Morgan to me is a far better player than Lapslie, and much more likely to feature this season
Cullen and Bielik have one year left on their contracts there is no way that their clubs will allow loans, they will either use them or sell them, the only chance of a loan is if they sign contract extensions - I am not ITK this is just common sense
I am ITK (a bit) with regard to WHU. I have a pal who knows Cullen very well and trust me I am bashing away at every opportunity to get our message across. My pal was in our kitchen earlier this year and texted him a photo of my CAFC calendar with the message “Everywhere I go I can’t get away from you ha ha “ - seems JC was quite flattered by this. Anyway , WHU are not making any decisions about their U23 till the end of the month. It seems they think they are a bit thin at U23 level. They were all back and fitness tested today, and WHI will take it from there. They have one fella who flatly refuses to go out on loan. He says I get a couple of grand a week to play footy on a Tuesday afternoon on pitches at Liv, Man City etc, why would I want to potentially damage my career with a season at Bury or somewhere. Thats what’s wrong with footy I guess, too much money at the lower level, with clubs trying to hold on to young players with silly money in case they are the next Lee Bowyer.
Cullen won’t be playing for any club’s U23s this season. He will either be part of the squad at West Ham or playing in the Championship, hopefully for us.

Or sold to another club
One year left on his contract, I imagine that by the end of July WH will have decided if they want him or not, as if they don't they will have to sell him
Walked past Lyle Taylor today at Bluewater - long way to go to see a film from Wigan
I don’t get it?
There was a rumour he was off to Wigan, he posted a picture of a lovely stretch of idyllic beach with a caption along the lines of "Wigan is lovely this time of year" whilst clearly still on holiday
I think Oztumer will definitely happen (no insider info lol just based on what everyone’s been saying). After that I just think we need another keeper (Amos), another left back (Purrington), a holding midfielder (Bielik), a centre mid (Cullen), a number 10 to compete with Oztumer (Williams) and a quick striker (Nketiah). Then I will be very optimistic. That is a DREAM scenario though

Isn't the number 10 role going to be Aneke?
I would think Aneke will play up top but drop deeper when required like Yann used to do. We still need a creative midfielder.
If Bielik and Cullen become available for perm transfers surely these players would fall in Roland’s category of buying certain players with a future resale value. Surely the only way is up for these players so you never know RD could well give the green light.

With Bielik doing so well in the U21 tournament there is no way we could afford him.

I reckon Bielik would cost at least a couple of million. My fancy, is that he'll be moving to the Bundesliga.

No longer the case since he decided to sell the club as he won't be benefiting from the future sales otherwise he wouldn't have rescinded Aribo's contract offer last year.
He's clearly given Bowyer a set budget which will rely on cheap gambles from the lower divisions where championship football is the main draw to joining us and loans from the prem

William's can also play on the left side of the diamond and replace Aribo.
Whilst Oztumer, Albie Morgan and Aneke cover the number 10 role.
Cullen to come back into the right of the diamond (competing with Lapslie).
Whilst JFC & Pratley compete for the holding role.
With what Bowyer and coaching staff have done with Cullen & Bielik last year I wouldn’t worry so much with loans as CAFC with that track record I bet we will be able to get 3/4 decent ones as the Prem clubs will all know this and in the end this makes them many millions when they are sold. Logically they will be desperate to send them over
I would say that's Oztumer, by the sounds of his interview he is off. I reckon he has to wait till the notice he gave Bolton before it can be confirmed
Think we could do with a decent right back and perhaps then we could move djiksteel to more central midfield position
He needs to get better on the ball IMO to play midfield, like a hot potato a lot of the time. His defending came on very well 2nd half of season which kept his place.

There is still much to be done on the recruitment front, but Aneke and Lockyer are an excellent start to the rebuilding campaign.
Charlton still need to bring in several more players, and everyone is working hard behind the scenes. One deal in particular is very close.

Not a CM for me at this stage of his career.
