So we have just FIVE DAYS now until the Upbeats Walk!!

Many thanks to @suzisausage @les_says @AlF @Onlyme @Mr Dick @bobmunro @red riding hoodie, MP and Anon  for their generosity over the weekend.

We are now at the 50% mark of our sponsorship target and we really could do with some assistance now in getting that closer to our target. Big or small, ALL donations are hugely appreciated.

Who fancies starting their week with a positive action? Can you help us get up to 60% by the end of today?

    https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/charlton-life2

We will have a couple of auction pieces being revealed tomorrow so stay tuned.

And with the weather forecast to be nice on Saturday, there’s still spaces available to join the walk and our Lifer regiment. Can we get our numbers up to 40?

     https://cact.org.uk/courses/upbeats-walk/4225

    Thanks all!

  • I shall be there to send you all on your merry way and will try to be there when you reach the Valley, but sadly a torn meniscus, (who knew that was a thing?) is going to prevent me from walking with you all.

Gutted to miss out, because for anyone who isn't sure, this is a fantastic day. You don't just get to meet fellow Lifers, you don't just get to meet some Charlton legends and you don't just get a t-shirt, food and drink thrown in for good measure.

You get to meet the fantastic Upbeats and have the knowledge that you are helping to fund this incredibly worthy cause. There is no better reason.

Sadly we've decided to retire Bailey from sponsored walks. He's fighting against his age and while at only nine his Hypothyroidism is taking its toll and it takes him longer to recover. His association with the Upbeats started in 2012 when we first got invited to Sparrows lane with Charltonlife, little did we know then where that would lead us. He will still be about raising money and awareness to whatever cause but the 10/20 mile walks are over and we have to protect him from himself. Thank you to all that have supported him through the years.

    They sent this map?

No Greenwich park this year but a walk round Avery hill park to start before winding up through falcon wood/eltham/I lead up to sevendroog castle?

Won’t that clash with park run??! We can all cheer on Riviera!

Bit more rural this year, will make a nice change. Gutted to be missing Parkrun for it and walking past my course will hurt even more!

Through the course though when they’re all running it? Or have I got the times muddled?

    Many thanks to @DaveStorry @addickson @Riviera @HantsAddick @kimbo fan club and others.

We are inching higher but are still at less than 50% of last years efforts, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated

I really would have loved to do this, when i was 21 did the Margate to Maidstone 50 mile walk.

But that was 52 years ago!! Last night i was bullish, now in the cold light of day, perhaps my emphysema and arthritis is trying to tell me something.

Good luck to all of you, would loved to have walked with Simon Webster, Rob Lee, Bob Bolder etc. Will make a donation now instead.

That's sad news Ray but obviously I understand and you've made the right decision. Bailey is a great dog and his health is paramount.

Thanks to @cafc999 @CAFCBourne and a whole heap of others I sadly don’t know who they are supporting (but thank you none the less).

just two days to go and at 71% we continue to inch towards our target.

could you help us inch that little closer?

You'll all be pleased to know this is the last day of me going on!

Big thanks to @Sillybilly @big in Brasov @LenGlover @Solidgone @kimbo  Glynne Jones and more members of the @guinnessaddick fan club.

We are currently at 80% of our £5k target. We have never once not hit our target so if you've been thinking all week of maybe being kind enough to provide a donation, today is the day to do it.

Can we help us get the o/s 20% of our target in one day?

Just to say its going to be a great shame not having Bailey there for two reasons:

    1. Bailey is a Charlton Life legend. A wonderful dog and a real stalwart for our CL fundraising efforts over the last 7 years. He will be sadly missed from these type of events and I hope continues to have a great life taking it a bit easier.

    2. It means we are actually going to have to chat with @T_C_E and not Bailey

    Sad times all round :-)

Between us we've never missed an Upbeats walk (is this the 6th?) something we are very proud of, as is the association with my dogs and Charltonlife. Bailey will be very well represented by Valli (hatrick of appearances) and JJ on his debut, JJ is equally as handsome but has a mistrust of small loud dogs and people under 6' 3" 😜he's never been to London before so interesting times in the traffic and the hustle and bustle. Speaking to me is an option so please don't feel obligated 😉
