Christians are being persecuted, harried and murdered all over the world and have been for a long time. The puzzle is that unlike 'islamophobia' or 'anti-semitism', far less mainstream media attention has been paid to this particular issue. I do wonder why

Indeed, the situation in northern Cameroon is very worrying too; persecuted by the Franco-speaking government, their funds are being stolen and English speaking locals are "disappearing" regularly.
Sad for Colombo; the hotel I stayed at on my first visit is between the Cinnamon and Shangri-La, so luckily it wasn't bombed too.
So sad to read about such hatred and bitterness. We went last November for the cricket, Sri Lanka and England, and fell in love with the place. They were already suffering from a decline in tourism beacause of political tensions and this will hit them hard. Rest in peace to those killed and please let's not have retaliation to follow.
It does seem that this maybe not just an attack against Christians but also, given the bombing of the touristy/luxury hotels, more of an attack on 'western culture' or 'old style ex-colonialism' in general. So many countries across the world are dependant on 'the west' for their livelihoods. China with its manufacture of seemingly everything necessary for life in 'the west', Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia for (especially) clothing and footwear on which most western clothing chain stores are dependant. It seems to me that a grudging dependence on the old 'colonial masters' does not suit many politically and culturally aware groups across the world. They want more financial independence and the ability to develop industries more suited to an indigenous way of life. If so, these movements and philosophies will be VERY hard to contain. Just look at the mayhem and destruction caused by ISIS. We in the west need to be on our guard against violence and terrorism but also aware of the worries, needs and desires of much poorer and financially exploited foreigners
Statement from Ben Nicholson whose wife and two children were killed whilst sat at a restaurant. Heartbreaking stuff, could you imagine that happening to you
Moved to tears reading that......poor guy, where does he go in life, what road can he go down that will find him peace and contentment.....there but for the grace of god go I.
I read that earlier and felt like an utter nobhead because I was angry with my kids this morning and told them off for being naughty when getting ready for school.
I can't comprehend how he can write that so soon after something so devastating
The whole thing is just dreadful and I'm really surprised nobody has yet "claimed" it. You have to wonder why that is...the worrying thing is it could well mean this is not the last of it.
Doesn’t get the same level of outrage as other attack’s this thread for example has very few comments and is further down the forum - don’t know why that is.
another explosion just now and death toll risen to 359 people, religion motivated as all over the Easter weekend and mainly Christians being attacked.
When do do we start “ standing in solidarity with Sri Lanka “ and protecting churches etc, the difference between the way the New Zealand and Sri Lanka attack’s have been commented and covered by our politicians and media outlets is a reason why racism still exists.
condem all these attack’s the same way as killing people in a house of sanctuary has to be the most cowardly thing possible. I know everyone and there dog is an atheist these days but for people with a religion these places are there houses of safety.
@palarsehater - please don’t start with the nonsense. Everyone is outraged at what has happened and it has been front page news everyday since (apart from the Sun today, funnily enough).
What has happened is an absolute catastrophe perpetrated by a level of evil I think people find it hard to comprehend, it shouldn’t be used for point scoring.

A couple of the hotels where I gave workshops also got bombed.
Sad, I thought it was all over.

The Islamist group National Towheed Jamath are thought to be behind the killings.
RIP all the lost lives
.It gets worse.
Turns out the British woman who was killed with her kids was in my year at school! Didn't recognise her from the pictures at first.
The husband my wife recognised hooked up with her at college.
In shock
Very sad. RIP
I don't think I could survive what Mr Nicholson is now going through. I do not understand this level of evil.
RIP all the victims - condolences to those that they left behind.
Senseless.
