    Not sure it’s racist as it is a term more used to describe anyone who lives in a caravan.

    Definitely offensive and may, therefore, be deemed appropriate given the context it was used? A trifle over the top IMO, but it’s all down to perceptions.

    The urban dictionary has an interesting definition.

    He must have signed .... but no it's mainly about one of our resident Spanners trying to wriggle out of admitting he's a Pikey.

    But he's alright really. He likes grammar and trains.
