Wow.....wasn't expecting that. Wasn't at the game or didn't follow it on I-player so no idea how wd played, but reading the comments already posted I think I'm right about keeping Morgan & not sending him out on loan.
Brilliant battling performance. First twenty minutes we looked like the proverbial rabbit in the headlights but as the game progressed we gained confidence.
Some mixed performances. Pearce was immense and Taylor worked so hard and could have had more than one goal.
Sarr had a bit of a stinker and Lapslie and his bouncy hair , flatters to deceive at times.
My biggest worry is that moron in Belgium , knowing nothing about football , sees this result and thinks we don't need any more players when we quite clearly are short in midfield and up front.
Blackburn were poor so lets not get carried away. Stoke will want to bounce back after a defeat today and its going to be a very tough game next Saturday so lets turn up and be the 12th man . COYR
Bowyer is right once again. The players give 100% and they are winners. Nobody showed it as much as Pearce today, a captains and a leaders performance. He was totally total. Blackburn were all over us to begin with (like the first 70 minutes with a five minute Charlton interlude!), but we would not throw in the towel whatever any individual performance was like, our players, and especially our travelling support, were simply not prepared to surrender. I have no idea of the stats, but Blackburn had not that many actual attempts on goal, indeed we obligingly scored one for them, when we attacked I think they underestimated what we could squeeze out of ourselves. We were away from home, newly promoted playing a team with ability, certainly better adjusted to the Championship, but we got three lovely points. I actually don't see it as smash and grab so much as deployment of scant resources to do the best we can, and we have some players who can do a little bit. We got carded, and wasted time when we could, but what team in our situation wouldn't? The best team might not have won it, but the team who won it deserved to win if you follow my logic. Any player who we might be critical of, won't deserve any criticism because of attitude whatever else anybody might say. Phillips was good, had a wonderful presence, and it is sometimes as if we fans suck the nervousness out of him to leave him with a zen like calm during matches. Djiksteel was tested and tested by their wide guy, who eventually switched to have a go at Purrington before being substituted. The attacking defender was also a threat down Djiksteels side, but eventually he prevailed. he was well backed up by Lockyer, now Lockyer is not hot on distribution as we saw, but he knows a bit about actually defending and stopping things and he did that well. Sarr was not on it today, his mistake led eventually to Blackburn scoring, when he had a chance to left foot it forward to Purrington he was often too cautious which the Blackburn players sniffed out and caused him to be too uncertain. Purrington was of course a seven, with extra for the goal. Our guy now and he gives it all he can. This brings me on to Pearce. At times he was stopping Blackburn on his own, colossal defending, fantastic and inspirational example to the others, experience aplenty, simply wonderful, a proper proper captains showing. In midfield we essentially huffed and puffed. However each midfielder made valuable contributions from time to time, and unforced errors early in the game became less and less. For all the fragility of the midfield I believe Bowyer set them up to not become ruined, but to make the most of what they had. Williams helped with Purringtons goal, Lapslie worked like a Trojan, as did Pratley, and JFC was able to show a little bit of footballing class on occasion. As a lone front man Taylor did all he could, and flicked in a great header won by Pearce from a corner, absolutely no criticism due to Lyle, still proved to be talismanic today. Conor showed a bit of promise, we shall see eh? I never in a million years saw that coming today, but it wasn't luck, it was harvesting what remains of the positives from last season and putting it to good use.
Not defending Roland here but I wouldn't worry about Roland saying we dont need players because we won, LB has a budget set and is working with it (a shit one at that)
Stays inside spending I'm sure he can sign players
Apparently, he's saying "Can I come back boss? This is the place for me - great team, great spirit, great management team. Much rather be here on your journey rather than staying at the soulless pit over the river. Can you have a word with Roland and sort it for me. PLEASE"
Well, that result has put a smile on my face. Hopefully it will silence some of the doom mangers. Always better to view things from a glass half full perspective.
So proud of our team right now. Lee Bowyer spoke at length before the game that hard work and the right attitude gets you 10 points regardless of ability. Well there is 3 of them. I know the Sunderland game was the most important, but for me that is the best victory under Lee Bowyer so far. They all played their hearts out. Anyone thinking about coming on loan to us in this next week can be left in no doubt about the spirit of the group they will be joining.
Stand outs were Pearce, Purrington and Taylor. But in truth they all put a wonderful shift in.
Loved it and support carried on from last season. The game? We won and despite the daft added on time controlled last quarter of the game which impressed me most of all. Accept Rovers were poor given the boost of the extra time.

Unused sub for West ham today despite them making 9 outfield changes, so you'd expect that most weeks he won't even make the bench.
Those doom and gloom merchants on the predictions thread should hang their heads. The consensus seemed to be a 3-0 defeat and a hammering.
I'm one of those 'doom and gloom merchants' as you call us who thought we would lose 3-0. I'm extremely glad I was wrong, but I'm not a 'doom and gloom merchant', I was predicting one score from the opening game, based on who we had lost and who we had brought in. As I said I was wrong, but its one game, Im sure there will be times when I predict we'll win and end up losing.....thats football!!
Bring in a striker to partner Lyle, three midfielders and don’t let anyone go. Add to that Aneke fit again next week. We’ll be fine this season. In Bowyer, Jacko and Gallen we trust

Just another 45 points needed.

Very proud fan tonight.
They know what Bowyer can do so it's a win win situation.
I never predict anything but I always have blind faith no matter what.
